Let's raise awareness about the critical intersection of minority mental health and stroke in children. Stroke can affect anyone, including our youngest, and the impact on minority communities can be profound. 💔 🚨 Key Points: 1. Awareness: Understand that children can have strokes too. Early detection is crucial. 2. Support: Offer emotional and mental health support to affected families. 3. Education: Learn about the signs of stroke and how it uniquely impacts minority children. 4. Advocacy: Push for better healthcare resources and equitable access to care. Together, we can create a supportive environment that ensures every child has the opportunity to thrive. 🌟❤️ #MinorityMentalHealth #ChildhoodStrokeAwareness #BreakTheStigma #SupportOurKids

This is important work. I also want to draw attention to this section from the RANZCP position statement on potential perpetrators, as it is important context for some of the figures provided. "The limited available data, such as reports to the Mental Health Complaints Commissioner in Victoria, found alleged perpetrators were most often other consumers with fewer reports for staff and visitors.[5, 8] However, this data is likely to reflect both the inevitable underreporting of sexual harm incidents and then further likelihood of underreporting of incidents that involve staff.[31] This is due to the power mbalance and vulnerability experienced by those admitted to mental health inpatient wards, which is exacerbated for particularly vulnerable groups such as women, people with disabilities, members of the LGBTIQ+/irawhiti takatāpui community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and Māori.[7]"
The National Mental Health Consumer and Carer Forum (NMHCCF) have released their Advocacy Brief on the Sexual Safety of Consumers in Mental Health Inpatient Units. This is a long-awaited piece of advocacy work that sheds light on an issue that often remains hidden in the dark. Please see the following link to read the advocacy brief: https://lnkd.in/gVQM-3PF If you have any follow-up feedback or questions for the NMHCCF, please email nmhccf@mhaustralia.org

📣Advocacy Opportunity for Child Mental Health📣 Today is #WorldMentalHealthDay, a day to reflect on well-being and mental health support access and an opportunity to uplift advocacy efforts to bolster solutions to mental health needs. As part of the Campaign for Healthy Minds, Healthy Kids, CCC is active in youth and child mental health advocacy efforts across New York. In our state, the system to support families in need of mental and behavioral health support services for their children and youth is unable to meet the needs of communities due to a workforce crisis and other widespread staffing issues. Due to this, thousands of families end up waitlisted for services for months and sometimes years, which can have devastating and lasting effects on well-being. We -can- solve this issue with targeted investments though, and advocacy organizations have done the math to prove it. Join us in urging state leaders to support a future where no child is on a waitlist to receive behavioral health services, and where every child receives the care they need when they need it: https://bit.ly/CMHA24 Take action with us because #MentalHealthMatters!

Children process & express emotions as developmentally appropriate for them. They may not verbalize, "I have anxiety. I feel like I'm having a panic attack. I'm freaking out over here, help!" They will say it in other ways. ‼️ If your child(ren) check a box or two, it may be worth a conversation. Help them out now so the small things don't turn into the big things. #monarchcreates #monarchi #anxiety #childanxiety #childmentalhealth #neurodiversity #mentalhealth #awareness #advocate #telieshasharee
