GIFT members Truc H. Le, PhD FHEA, Margarida Abreu Novais and Charles Arcodia recently co-authored a paper in Tourism Management Perspectives entitled: "How authenticity in events fosters social sustainability: Towards an authenticity ecosystem and implications for destination management". Studies on authenticity in events were reviewed using a systems thinking approach, whereby a holistic multi-actor network was developed, so-called authenticity ecosystem. In this authenticity ecosystem, authenticity in events is posited as a vehicle permeating host destinations to drive social sustainability. Contributions to the understanding of how destination managers can better use authenticity in events to enhance social sustainability in host destinations are provided.
