Truly, TB and HIV are deeply interwined (working in the lab has made me understand this as; when one is infected with HIV there's a high chance of the patient having TB especially as they grow older as the immune system is gradually becoming weak). Statistically, the ration of a HIV patient not having TB is 3:10. lets try to create more awareness on TB

In May 2000, The Wall Street Journal wrote about the early days of antiretrovirals (ARV) access during the peak of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. It was one of the first international papers to cover the issue comprehensively, including how Medical Access was founded as part of a UNAIDS initiative (known as the Drug Access Initiative, or DAI) to provide life-saving ARVs at a subsidized rate to patients in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Learnings from DAI showed the world that ARV access was possible in LMICs. That momentum triggered many of the international global access initiatives we know today, including The Global Fund and PEPFAR. As we approach the conclusion of our 25th anniversary year, taking the time to contemplate our origins and appreciate the journey we've undertaken serves as a poignant reminder of what's possible and the many opportunities that lie ahead. In the public health sector we sometimes forget that simpler can be better. HIV patients don't need to understand copies per millilitre; they do need to understand how effective treatment reduces HIV to the point where it can't be detected or transmitted. We developed a simple visual aid (a set of bead bottles) to make that easier to explain. A joint Mpilo/Indlela evaluation found that it dramatically increased understanding of adherence and viral suppression as well as confidence in the protective effects of ART (U=U). Day 3: The Role of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) 💪 Post Title: The Power of Civil Society Organizations Civil society organizations (CSOs) are non-governmental organizations that work to address various social issues and support community needs. They are crucial in promoting the interests and rights of key populations (KPs). CSOs led by KPs are pivotal in advocacy, support, and service provision, addressing social and health disparities, and working towards health equity. In the quest to prevent and treat HIV and other infectious diseases, UTH HAP partners with several CSOs. These partnerships are essential for linking community members to care, including treatment for HIV, mental health services, EMTCT (Elimination of Mother-To-Child Transmission), cervical cancer screenings, and many other infectious diseases. By empowering CSOs and leveraging their deep community connections, we can ensure that everyone has access to the health services they need, moving closer to achieving health equity for all. #CivilSociety #Leadership #CommunitySupport #HealthEquity#Socialenterpriseprogram
