What is your relationship with your body? Our body speaks to us all the time! Sometimes in whispers and other times in loud wake up calls that might seem painful and awful. Are we listening? Or do we know how to listen to the wisdom of the body? In my work with professionals and artists who seek to integrate wellbeing into their lives, one pattern that I've observed is the struggle to learn how to listen to the body and its needs. And often when we stop listening to our body, we start listening to "experts" on social media who tell us what to do without pausing to know who we are and what our life journey is. So then where does one begin? It took me many years to learn how to make sense of what my body is feeling and asking of me. To learn how to listen and respond and again listen and learn when I goof up. Of course, learning and practicing different modalities like yoga and energy work did help in developing and deepening this awareness. But what was most important for me in my journey was to unlearn and break old associations that were no longer serving me in living a thriving and healthy life. Practicing with a community and working with an appropriate mentor are two main pillars of my journey that enabled my own transformation.
