This week, we are featuring one of COAST's founding members and a COAST Board Member at-Large, Arnold Woodruff, MS, LMFT. We asked Mr. Woodruff about what made him join COAST, his vision of COAST's larger mission, and what he hopes other MFTs will find by joining COAST. If his thoughts resonate with you, join COAST: https://lnkd.in/gBzCyeWc 1. What made you become a founding member of COAST? [Mr. Woodruff] I got involved with COAST after the by-laws change as I was (and am) concerned about state-level information and advocacy for our profession when the existing state organizations were unsupported or taxed out of existence. 2. Describe COAST's mission in a way that feels meaningful to you. [Mr. Woodruff] The mission of COAST is to ensure a place for emerging and existing systemic therapists to go for networking, information, advocacy, and support with state and local-level knowledge and insight. 3. What would you like future COAST members to find in COAST? [Mr. Woodruff] I would like members to find a welcoming, professional, and knowledgeable home to support folks in their work as systemic therapy professionals. 4. What's one good reason more MFTs should consider joining COAST? [Mr. Woodruff] COAST remains focused on the day-to-day needs of systemic therapy professionals and students as we, as a distinct minority in numbers and theory, advance the value and visibility of our profession. #mft #systemictherapy #systemictherapists

We desperately need community and groups, maybe today more than ever - how else can we learn to see the person behind the eyes, to understand our own assumptions, which are not bad, they are just what we come with... SO I'm glad to be learning more on facilitating groups from Lynn Preston and other group members in this new module on ''Facilitating Focusing Groups Communities and Conversations'' https://lnkd.in/eGtARkiM

This week, we are featuring one of COAST's founding members and COAST Board Treasurer, Dr. Paul Springer. We asked Dr. Springer about what made him join COAST, his vision of COAST's larger mission, and what he hopes other MFTs will find by joining COAST. 🔥 🌟 If his thoughts resonate with you, join COAST: https://lnkd.in/gBzCyeWc 1. What made you become a founding member of COAST? [Dr. Springer] 📣 I wanted to be involved in an organization that was committed to promoting Systemic Family Therapy. This need became more apparent after our national organization no longer supported State organizations. 2. Describe COAST's mission in a way that feels meaningful to you. [Dr. Springer] 📣 COAST is an organization that brings systemic therapists together as a means to network, share information and provide advocacy support for one another. 3. What would you like future COAST members to find in COAST? [Dr. Springer] 📣 I would like future members to find an organization that is welcoming and supports both clinicians, researchers and students in advancing the field of systemic family therapy. 4. What's one good reason more MFTs should consider joining COAST? [Dr. Springer] 📣 We are a home that cares about the field of MFT and systemic therapy, not only in promoting theory and practice, but in ensuring quality systemic therapy research is disseminated and supported in the field. #mft #systemictherapy #systemictraining Megan Oudekerk, PsyD, LMFT, RPT-S Michael Whitehead, PhD Arnold Woodruff Derek Ball Dave Robinson

This is very good and worth listening to gain an insight into a single session consultation.
In this two-part series, we speak with Joanne Donne, a practice manager with Relationships Australia South Australia, about their single session consultation service. In this second episode, Joanne continues to describe the single session family consultation process, including supporting the family to take further action in responding to the problem, and the role of therapeutic letters, reflecting teams, and follow-up contact with the family. Joanne also offers reflections on what this approach offers staff teams. Listen to part two of this conversation 🎧: https://bit.ly/3zYLgfS

First impressions are so powerful and can ensure the fostering of trusting patient-doctor relationships. Here's how to greet your patients as you see them: 1. Smile 2. Offer a handshake 3. Introduce yourself by name (preferably by first and last names) 4. Ask the patient how they'd like to be addressed. 5. Offer them a seat 6. Ask them what brings them to your attention and how you can help them
