The thyroid gland is in the front of your neck. It is an endocrine gland that makes thyroid hormones, which have many functions in your body. In some cases, hard nodules form inside the gland. You might notice a small bump in your gland area. Most times, the nodules are not dangerous. But in some cases, they can indicate thyroid cancer. A.T. Radiology performs a Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) biopsy procedure that provides a biopsy sample of the thyroid. “Emerging research suggests that combining full-field digital mammography and whole-breast ultrasound tomography provides superior sensitivity in detecting BI-RADS 4 lesions and superior specificity in diagnosing BI-RADS 3 lesions than mammography alone in women with dense breasts. Newly Published New review article out, "The paradox of MRI for breast cancer screening: high-risk and dense breasts—available evidence and current practice" details the evidence supporting screening MRI for women with dense breasts. Should the evidence be enough for guidelines and implementation? As a reminder, in Europe, EUSOBI’s most recent screening recommendations call for supplemental MRI or ultrasound for women with category C or D (dense) breasts, with an explicit recommendation of MRI at a minimum of every 4 years for women with extremely dense breasts.  In the USA, the American College of Radiology states “For women with dense breasts who desire supplemental screening, breast MRI is recommended.” Read the article here: https://lnkd.in/dzSX85E8

A 73-year-old woman had sudden chest pain during pulmonary-function testing. She had a history of breast cancer, for which a double mastectomy with breast reconstruction had been performed 23 years earlier, followed by the insertion of silicone breast implants 12 years later. She also had a history of non–small-cell lung cancer, for which a superior segmentectomy of the right lower lung had been performed by means of open thoracotomy 3 years before presentation. To evaluate the patient’s chest pain, a computed tomographic scan of the chest was performed. Much as I can't bear to watch myself on video, I must share this as the message is so important. Being diagnosed with cancer is a trauma and the diagnosis alone can invoke a trauma response. The more you try to suppress it, the worse it becomes. The emotional and psychological effects of cancer are rarely visible but can be confusing, frightening and debilitating. Hopefully this video might go some way in helping people understand how a person might feel after a cancer diagnosis and how to support them. #cancersupport #melanoma #workingwithcancer #cancerpledge
