Pipeline Plugging without the Tee ☕️ A leading utility company in Qatar needed to install a new butterfly valve and expansion joint on a 16" (DN400) chilled water line without shutdown. A comprehensive site survey revealed the pipeline, operating at 5 bar (72 psi) pressure and around 7 °C temperature, had space limitations with close proximity to the sea. 🌊 After careful analysis, Wellube proposed the pipe freezing method with two single-position 16” line interventions. Our team was able to provide end-to-end engineering support, including specialised enclosure clamps, liquid nitrogen, and expert techs. 💫 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗜𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: Pipe freezing requires less space than traditional line intervention methods. 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽𝘀 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹: Only the required section of the pipeline is intervened for work. The overall system remained operational. 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝘁-𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁: Eliminates the need for draining and refilling, which was more expensive and critical in this specific situation. 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆: Our experts prioritise a safety-first approach always. Wellube’s pipe-freezing experts delivered an uninterrupted solution, maintaining the client's system online and fully operational throughout the intervention. 🏆 The client expressed high satisfaction with the quality and efficiency of Wellube's project delivery, leading to recommendations for our services at their other facilities.
