Today, I was inspired by the optimistic perspectives shared by industry leaders Josh Chapman (Konvoy), Ilya Eremeev (The Games Fund), and Sofia Dolfe (Index Ventures) on the intersection of VC and gaming. The key measure of the growth left for the gaming industry: time. Time isn't just a measure; it's the heartbeat of gaming's capability to entertain. Whether it's the staggering 3 billion mobile players or the dedicated community of PC and console enthusiasts, the trajectory is clear: more and more time is invested in gaming. If you have a strong vision, proven team and a solid go-to-market plan, you can still convince players to give you time. https://lnkd.in/gSBU9HT9 cc Brian Cho Alexandre Dewez François Kergaravat Sameer Singh #games #gameindustry #mobilegames

Great articlein TechCrunch by Rebecca Szkutak giving an investor overview of the video games industry https://lnkd.in/es5jwssd The green shoots are clearly there and, as those of us who have been in this amazing industry for many years know, that great games will continue to be made and played. AI and machine learning is going to facilitate even greater developer creativity and also at the back end better monetisation that enables the development of games on every platform. Web 3 games are still an exciting reality despite a temporary gap in the deal flow the next wave is coming on strong.

This gaming company shut down, and pivoted to this $20B+ company... In 2009, the founder of a gaming company called TinySpeck, ventured to develop a 'massively multi-player' game called "Glitch" Unlike its peer games, 'Glitch' was non-combative. It focussed on creativity and collaboration. Players were encouraged to shape the world through various activities like planting and growing items, building structures, and interacting with other players. After 3 years of development, 'Glitch' was launched to public in 2011. It didn't do well. By 2012, the game was shut down. But, during the course of development, the company had created a powerful internal communication tool. The communication tool was spun out as a different product. We know that company today as 'Slack' !! Moral: Build high quality internal products that don't have external solves available. Monetise them if there's a market. #productmanagement #entrepreneurship
