Grateful for the Best Places to Work recognition for the FOURTH year in a row! Highlighting two of our defined Core Behaviors I feel strongly lead to employees thriving day after day and year after year through the minutes to moments to milestones. 1- BUILD UP - We value leadership that equips others and want all employees to ask themselves daily how they can help increase the capacity of others. 2- UP A NOTCH- How am I setting the bar and improving personally and professionally? We desire to do excellent, bar-setting work because our colleagues, participants in the mission, corporate partners, volunteers, nonprofit and community partners, benefactors and the community are worth it! Do good work and do it with excellence!

For Women’s History Month, we’re recognizing the successes and achievements of BARDA employees. Meet Connie Song, Lead Contract Specialist, Division of Contract Management and Acquisitions. One of Connie’s greatest career achievements to date is having the opportunity to support the BARDA mission and working with such a talented and dedicated group. She added, “specifically providing contracting support to the Division of Research, Innovation and Ventures (DRIVe) in launching new and novel program initiatives.” Connie’s advice to young women who are just starting their professional careers is: “stay true to yourself and pursue your passions. Those incremental steps (some of which will feel like steps backwards) toward achieving every goal you set out to tackle is part of the experience that makes those more challenging moments worthwhile — there’s no failure in learning.” Women strengthen public health and national security with their dedication to meaningful work. It’s been four years since the world changed forever… ‘time to stop and reflect on what’s different! More than ever, we are finding that in the fast-paced, globally interconnected world of commerce, success often hinges not only on strategic planning but also on an intangible, yet extremely potent force called personal energy resonance. Have you assigned a different value to in-person interactions than you perhaps might have a few years ago? Check out my latest article: 'Our Fourth Anniversary: What’s Changed…?' https://lnkd.in/gJHvuf2g

Holy Week! Holi Week! However you celebrated this #esweekly, the arrival was spring was everywhere. I love transition seasons, so it’s my favorite time of the year in New York as the days get longer and warmer. 1. Speaking of transitions, GE will split into three companies, focused - respectively - on aerospace, healthcare and energy. The company that created the lightbulb, the MRI, and the first jet engine is fundamentally different from when it transformed nearly every aspect of American life during the baby boom, or grew into a massive conglomerate in the late 20th century. Check out this fantastic backgrounder from The Wall Street Journal: https://lnkd.in/eV76jCwa 2. Another corporate titan has also been in the news a good deal: Boeing, now well into it’s second century of transforming how we explore the universe. Great reporting from New York Magazine makes this a worthwhile read. https://lnkd.in/e7Pzq9VE Taken together, GE and Boeing are object lessons in finding the right balance across customer value creation, shareholder value creation and employee value creation. Both companies have legitimately changed our world for the better, in countless ways; but both companies have reasonably been called to account for how they thought about financial engineering and corporate profits relative to product innovation, quality and safety. In my very short tenure as CEO myself, I can’t say I’m able to answer the “how much profit is enough?” question…but I do believe, as I always have, in staying focused on creating quality products that deliver customer value, balancing the costs incurred with the value created for customers, and providing challenging, compelling jobs at fair market compensation. 3. Happy Easter (she ate, like, 20 Peeps before this picture. At 8:30am.)
