Earlier this week, the StartupExperts NYC Hub hosted their second Hackathon Event and it was an incredible success. See below to learn about the 4 pitches. We'd like to thank all the attendees, our partners, and of course the judges who helped make this event so fun! Last night, I had the pleasure of attending the Pathways to Tech event hosted by Headstarter AI. The event featured an impressive lineup of panelists, including Dustin Beadle (Director of Lattice), Logan Havern (CEO of Datalogz), Nabeel Alamgir🦄 (CEO of Lunchbox), Shariar Kabir (CEO of Ruby Card (YC W23)), and Miguel Acero (CTO of Ruby Card (YC W23)). Of these inspiring speakers, Nabeel’s story stuck out in particular. His journey from a busboy at Bareburger to becoming the CEO of Lunchbox is truly remarkable. Nabeel shared a powerful message about resilience and growth: failure and rejection are inevitable, but they are also the stepping stones to success. He emphasized that fear of rejection can hold you back from advancing in your career and personal development. Another valuable takeaway from Nabeel's talk was his reflection on self-criticism. He mentioned that, when he was younger, 80% of his inner voice was critical. If he could change anything, it would be to be kinder to himself. This resonated deeply with me, as I believe many of us can relate to being our own toughest critics. Nabeel also highlighted the importance of self-reflection, suggesting that reflecting on the past 24 hours can reveal valuable insights and opportunities for growth. And finally, Nabeel has a very cute dog, which just added to the overall positive and inspiring experience of the evening. Data-is-the-new-oil is passé… What if there’s something else that holds the key to decision-making and realising human's highest potential? Dare I say it is – intuition. At one point, Vishen Lakhiani, CEO of Mindvalley (arguably the largest mind, body, spirit platform), sold tech products to law firms. Initially unsuccessful, he turned the tide by listening to his intuition, which almost tripled his odds of calling a receptive lawyer and closing deals.  He achieved wild success at the tech company and eventually left it to start Mindvalley. The reality is that many leaders rely on intuition over raw data. It's the silent force guiding decisions.
