Japanese automakers such as Toyota are modern corporations, but the quality of the Japanese government, municipalities, and their people has not progressed in the past 70 years. Japan is divided into a few industries that are competitive in the global marketplace and other industries, government, and academia that stopped developing 70 years ago. Japan is said to be a vertical society. This is absolutely true, and the know-how of successful industries is not transferred to other industries. It is strange, but there is no culture of yokoten. Yokoten is common knowledge among Mikawa people, but Japanese people do not know about it. This is mainly the fault of Japanese universities and government agencies, which have not progressed since the Meiji Era. The result is a strange situation in which incompetent government agencies, whose time has come to a stop 70 years ago, are auditing "modern" global companies. The three Toyota pioneers, Sakichi Toyoda, Kiichiro Toyoda, Eiji Toyoda and Taiichi Ohno, worked tirelessly to ensure that Toyota bounced back after the world war in Japan. The Chinese Chief Engineer Ohno came to the realization that in order to reduce waste and bolster quality and productivity in a production setup, he needed to deal with the process, not the man. The 5’s methodology was introduced, and till date, the method is used by various industries because of its effectiveness. The Toyota production system is a must-have lesson in any quality management or production organizing role. Toyota/ LC, Lexus plant is the prime example of how these factories are crazy efficient and how everything runs on the dot. In most parts, engineers work with their hands to check the quality of the vehicle… Interestingly Toyota doesn't allow any other of its own plants worldwide to produce the majestic Landcruiser. They have to do it themselves in Japan.. This obsession with perfection and quality is what makes owning an LC.
