#WellnessWednesday The National Sleep Foundation’s annual Sleep Awareness Week will be held March 10-16, 2024. The annual event celebrates sleep health and encourages the public to prioritize sleep to improve their overall health and well-being. More than 18 million American adults have sleep apnea. In the 2005 Sleep in America poll, 8% of respondents experienced or had been observed having pauses in their breathing during sleep at least three nights per week. Adults in the poll were also given the Berlin questionnaire, a standardized test assessing risk for sleep apnea. Based on the questionnaire, 26% of all poll respondents were at risk.

🛌💤 Did you know? A study found that after 12-24 hours of sleep deprivation, our bodies crave deep sleep for recovery. 🌙 🔹 First night: More N3 deep sleep. 🔹 Second night: More REM sleep. 🔹 Third night: Back to normal. This shows just how critical deep sleep is for our health. Improve your sleep quality by addressing snoring and sleep apnea, minimizing light and noise, and keeping your room cool. Say YES to CPAP therapy for a deeper, more restorative sleep.

The results reveal a clear trend: even mild sleep apnea disrupts sleep, leading to less total sleep time and more frequent awakenings. This emphasizes the importance of treating sleep apnea to improve sleep quality for those suffering from COMISA. Read more at https://buff.ly/3yw6AbD

Feeling sleepy? 💤 You are invited to take part in a research study that will help develop a new measure to assess people’s sleep satisfaction: the Suffolk Sleep Index (SuSi). Good sleep is essential for health, but there is no consensus on how to conceptualize, define and measure sleep satisfaction. The Suffolk Sleep Index (SuSi) project was designed to develop and validate a targeted self-report measure to assess sleep satisfaction. Having developed the self-report measuring tool for sleep satisfaction, we now need to check its validity. ➡️ Fill in the questionnaire to contribute to our research: https://bit.ly/3NUpiyn
