The HPA-Axis refers to the communication and interaction between the hypothalamus (H) and pituitary (P) in the brain down to the adrenal glands (A) that sit on top of your kidneys. When a physical or psychological stressor occurs, the hypothalamus tells the pituitary to make ACTH (a hormone). ACTH stimulates the adrenal glands to make the hormone cortisol. Normally, the HPA-axis production follows a daily pattern in which cortisol rises rather rapidly in the first 10-30 minutes after waking in order to help with energy (this is called cortisol awakening response (CAR)), then gradually decreases throughout the day so that it is low at night for sleep. The cycle starts over again the next morning. When there is an imbalance, and too little or too much cortisol is produced, conditions such as fatigue, depression, insomnia and anxiety occurs. Dutch Adrenal tests total cortisol production. This test is run on LC-MS/MS- the most accurate way to test cortisol and metabolites. If you need to find a practitioner who utilises this test, or you are a practitioner who wants to implement this test in your practice, contact Nordic Laboratories. The Secret to Supercharged Productivity? #Modafinil, also known as Provigil®, is a wakefulness medication prescribed for narcolepsy and sleep disorders from shift work. It is also widely recognized for its cognitive benefits and ability to enhance focus. ✨ Modafinil was one of the first cognition-enhancing drugs I ever tried, and it has never failed to work for me. It's a staple in every book I’ve published. ❓ How does it work? The primary pathway appears to be the inhibition of #dopamine reuptake. This means Modafinil prevents dopamine breakdown while increasing dopamine production simultaneously. Unlike other focus-enhancing agents, Modafinil won’t speed up your heart rate. ➡️ Learn more: https://loom.ly/d0qV9LY ✋🏻 Have you tried Modafinil or any “smart drug”? The treatment of panic attacks typically involves a combination of therapy and medications. Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is widely used to help individuals identify and change thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to their panic attacks. Medications such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) or benzodiazepines may be prescribed to alleviate symptoms and prevent future attacks. Lifestyle changes, including stress management techniques, regular exercise, and adequate sleep, can also play a crucial role in managing and reducing the frequency of panic attacks. It's important for individuals experiencing panic attacks to work closely with healthcare professionals to develop a personalized treatment plan that addresses their specific needs and circumstances.
