Yes, PAYE agency workers are considered to be employees for tax purposes, as employment taxes are deducted at source. So, given the agency worker meets the eligibility criteria for SSP, which includes meeting a certain threshold of earnings and being ill for at least 4 days in a row, they will be entitled to SSP as a day 1 right. You can find further information on this in our APSCo guidance on SSP: https://lnkd.in/eb3XurkC and the Government website here: https://lnkd.in/ezc8TH3U) #APSCo #FAQWednesday #WednesdayWisdom #APSCoMembers

What would happen if Unions were taxed the same as companies? As it stands Unions are exempt from paying tax on membership fees and income from other sources including commercial revenue, but are still liable for GST, payroll tax, stamp duty and PAYG. Yet tradies are not exempt from paying Union memberships to work on any EBA site, and the majority of government jobs are Union run. That's a lot of taxpayer money not going back to the taxpayer... Do they really have a leg to stand on on this? https://lnkd.in/g2MJigZJ #auspol #springst #tax #government #unions #taxpayers #costofliving #independent #libertarian

These are more helpful than you think. Not being proactive with tax rate compliance is one of the top 5 Year-End mistakes made by businesses. Certain tax rates change every year, so you must double-check every tax rate at the end of each year to ensure accuracy. If you miscalculate these rates, not only will you have to make up the difference, but there are also penalties you’ll have to pay, such as late fees and interest.

News | Partner James Austen comments on the UK Labour Party Election Manifesto, released today: “While not one of their manifesto commitments, Labour has not ruled out increasing Capital Gains Tax (CGT) rates. In fact, Sir Kier Starmer has repeatedly refused to do so when questioned on it during this election campaign, and Rachel Reeves advocated a CGT rate rise in a 2018 pamphlet, so it remains a definite possibility notwithstanding the manifesto’s silence. If Labour were to raise the rate of CGT - potentially bringing it into line with income tax (currently, a maximum of 45%) – this could even come as soon as an emergency budget in the first few weeks of the new government. Though not a particularly large source of tax revenue, raising CGT rates could nonetheless provide a Labour government with room for additional spending, which would otherwise be difficult to fund given the party’s promise not to raise VAT, NI or income tax." Calling all salaried professionals! Have you noticed the recent tax hike on our hard-earned salaries? It's unacceptable that the burden of taxation falls squarely on our shoulders, without any representation in the assemblies. We labour for full 12 months but effectively only get paid for 11, as the equivalent of one month salary is taken away by these unjust taxes. It's time for us to unite and demand a voice in the decision-making process! We need an organized salaried class union to advocate for our rights and interests. Let's come together to: - Fight for fair taxation - Demand representation in assemblies - Protect our economic well-being Share your thoughts and let's make our voices heard! #SalariedClassUnion #TaxationWithRepresentation #EmployeeRights
