Strong leadership and message to encourage everyone to step up how you show up.
Earlier this week I issued a video message to Queensland Fire Department staff and volunteers about a lingering shadow that has hung over us for too long. Reports of sexism, bullying or other inappropriate behaviour unfortunately do occur in this organisation – as it does elsewhere, and I know it is not reflective of the vast majority of our people or our department. I expect the highest standard of behaviour in our department from every staff and volunteer member, and that includes respect toward each other. Our people deserve the best, and our communities deserve our best. I am honoured to lead this department – made up of truly generous and selfless people who have sought a life of service and who have an innate desire to give back to their communities. Our people do amazing work for Queensland communities and this is evident wherever I go across the state. I have been heartened by the positive response I have received from our people to the Call to Action video message this week. I know we are on the right path to making QFD a great workplace for all. https://lnkd.in/gzM7H757
