In 2022, the Rozsa Foundation received feedback from our community suggesting that as a private foundation, we could play a significant role in advocating for increased government support for the arts sector. This resonated with our values and vision, leading us to allocate more resources to arts advocacy. We've been active in advocacy at all levels of government, from local to federal. We've joined initiatives like the Nonprofit Vote and the Canadian Arts Coalition, and we've invested in our own knowledge through professional development programs. Recently, there have been positive steps in Alberta, with the government announcing increases in funding for the arts. This is encouraging news. Moving forward, we plan to stay connected with relevant government ministries and continue advocating for the arts sector. Read more: https://lnkd.in/gA3jfNaC And don't forget, the dialogue series question for the week is: We want to hear from the community about what they think are important issues for government attention in the arts sector. What are your public policy priorities? Let your voice be heard! In case you missed out on what the 'Dialogue' series is, it is where we take a thought-provoking question or idea from our latest newsletter article and toss it out to our community, asking: 'What's your take? We invite you to dive in however you like! Share your thoughts by commenting, sending messages, recording audio clips, or emailing us —whatever suits you. 'Dialogue' is about your perspective on topics that impact the community. Your thoughts are the heartbeat of this series, so we encourage you to engage! . . . #rozsafoundation #artadvocacy #dialogue #art #artists #yycarts #alberta

How can data about national service and volunteerism help us understand the broader context of civic engagement in America? Join us tomorrow as Serve Virginia staff and others share insights in this free webinar hosted by AmeriCorps, featuring case studies of evidence-building efforts from across the nation that generate actionable insights for national service programs, nonprofits, policymakers, and the public: 1) an analysis of motivations to serve among AmeriCorps members, 2) an analysis of civic engagement among AmeriCorps members, and 3) an index that allows Virginians to benchmark their community engagement at the local, state, and national level (Serve Virginia's Virginia Community Engagement Index, or VCEI). Taken together, these cases highlight how bringing together data on the big picture with experiences on the ground can paint a more holistic picture of civic engagement in America. Doctor in Public Health in training | Executive Director, Centro SOL | Commissioner for Maryland's Commission on Suicide Prevention, Department of Health | Officer on the Trauma Informed Care Task Force, Baltimore City
do you have what it takes?...building capacity for Latino-led organizations that serve the growing Latino population in Maryland is a gap that needs lots of attention in different fields. At Maryland Latinos Unidos we talk and do a lot about building pathways for and with Latinos in Maryland. Like my colleague Gabriela D. Lemus, Ph.D. Executive Director at MLU says, "juntos podemos más". what does it mean to build capacity? To answer this question and join forces, check out the advocacy conversations to discuss priorities for Latinos in Maryland in the "People's Issues Priorities Series" https://lnkd.in/dBEK9Cbm Latinos are an economic power for Maryland so I joined the MLU steering committee with Centro SOL to bring awareness of infrastructural barriers Latinos encounter in building their businesses and organizations. #latinosunidos #representationmatters #advocacy
