In pursuit of “Learning for Lasting Peace” this International Day of Education, it is necessary to highlight the role of teachers beyond providing academic knowledge to learners. Through their teaching techniques, teachers can serve as role models, instilling positive values such as inclusivity, open-mindedness, and mutual respect. PEN’s hands-on teacher training programme, with a focus on inquiry-based pedagogies, empowers teachers to nurture these positive values alongside creative and critical thinking skills in their learners. This ensures that students leave the classroom not only with academic excellence but also as well-rounded future leaders, with the values of respect, tolerance for opposing views, and a commitment to lasting peace imprinted in their minds. #internationaldayofeducation #LearningforLastingPeace #qualityeducationforall #stemeducation #dayofeducation2024

"Education in America was designed, from the start, to fail children. That is not our fault. It is our fault if we don’t change that system. Why do we have rectangular classrooms with a “teaching wall” at the front? Why do we line up students’ chairs in rows so often? Why do we have lectures? Why are all in a class expected to be on the same page of a book? Why do we divide learners by age? Why do we grade them on a linear scale? Why aren’t all children included? Why do we have notions of tardiness and truancy? Why do we have a set daily schedule? Why do we line students up when they walk through a hall? Why is silence preferred?" #education #educationalleadership #school #schoolleadership #learningdesign #learningdisabilities #americanhistory https://lnkd.in/e-yE5mJr

Part 2 of a history of American education... “…being an American requires conformity. We will not lose sight of the main goal — high standards for our students — by bending to political pressure or responding to misinformed media reports. These entities have ‘lesser’ goals that ultimately harm kids.” Greg Poole, Superintendent Barbers Hill Independent School District, Texas Is public education about learning and opportunity? Or about training and control? Is it about the “individualism” that right-wing Americans so often proclaim? Or is it about conformity and compliance, as the Texas superintendent above claims? Is it about equity as the left says it desires? Or is it about making sure the educated elites stay above the Marxian masses (which is how I read education coverage in The New York Times)? “School has truly become an inexpensive form of police, one whose very authority is supported by the argument that it is a place that helps the individual, and that an individual’s interests cannot be separated from social needs” — Joel Spring, The Politics of American Education #education #educationalleadership #school #schoolleadership #americanhistory #learning https://lnkd.in/e-yE5mJr

Today, I received one of the best compliments ever from one of my students. Since it's my birthday tomorrow, I shared the year I was born: 1985. One of my students said, 'Hey, sir, that's the same year LeBron James was born.' He then looked at me and casually said, 'To be honest, sir, you are like the LeBron James of teaching.' What a statement that was 😁. But it did make me reflect. What is it that is needed to become the LeBron James of teaching? It came to me. It's what I like to call the three Cs: Connection, Care, and Consistency. I view the 3Cs as the core pillars of teaching, with content knowledge and pedagogical strategies at the top. #teaching #teaching #teachingandlearning #learning #education #educationalleadership

Teachers are the backbone of EVERY educational system. Without their voices at the table, any conversation about the future of education is INCOMPLETE. We can’t expect progress without including those who understand the day-to-day realities, opportunities, and challenges of teaching. Sister Zeph’s message reminds us that empowering teachers and ensuring their voices are heard is the key to an inclusive, sustainable, and effective educational landscape. Let’s keep pushing for TEACHER-led change, because a better future in education starts with the people who know it best. #WorldTeachersDay2024 #TeachersLeading #TeachersMatter #TeacherVoices #InclusiveEducation #GlobalTeacherPrize #TheresPowerInTeaching

Today I embark on something I've said I'd never do: teach adults. Nonetheless, here I go. I'm partnering with University of Rhode Island Feinstein College of Education and Project Sustain to teach Language Study for Teachers of Reading. This mission and work is too important, to not do something. Never say never. https://lnkd.in/eQrhAfhF #lifelonglearner #onamission #doingwattsnaturalinverted? #neversaynever #teacherprep #teachingandlearning

I am a International businessman, specialized in development of projects with economic-social impact. I have more than 27 years of experience in innovation and entrepreneurship...
Teacher's Day Greeting Today, May 15, 2024, we celebrate one of the most noble and fundamental professions in humanity: teaching. On this day, we pay tribute to those teachers whose vocation, dedication, and love for teaching have shaped and transformed us, often amidst an increasingly complex and fragmented society. To my teachers, to whom I owe the inspiration to become who I am today, I extend my deepest gratitude. With your wisdom and patience, you planted in me the seeds of knowledge and curiosity. In a world where your work often goes unrecognized, your role remains the cornerstone upon which the future is built. We remember with gratitude and respect those who are no longer with us but whose impact endures in the generations they educated. Their legacy is immortal and their influence eternal. Teaching is not just about imparting knowledge, but about shaping souls, cultivating values, and igniting the spark of learning. In His infinite wisdom, God has blessed us with the presence of teachers who, like St. John Baptist de La Salle, dedicated their lives to education, transforming lives and entire societies. The world needs more and better teachers, who must be recognized, valued, and dignified with fair salaries and appropriate working conditions. Education is the foundation of a better society, and within it, teachers are the architects of a more just and promising future. Furthermore, the active involvement of parents in this monumental task is crucial, for only with their support and collaboration can true educational excellence be achieved. As a grateful and blessed former student, and as a professor who cherishes the memories of his classrooms and students, I express my profound admiration and respect for all teachers. Your work is a light in the darkness, a hope in times of uncertainty, and a guide towards a better future. Let us continue to value and support our teachers, for in their hands lies the construction of a wiser, more just, and more humane world. With gratitude and recognition, Jorge Arturo Acevedo Alarid, Ph.D Grateful and blessed former student Professor with beautiful memories of his students and classrooms #TeachersDay #ThankYouTeachers #TeachingVocation #TributeToTeachers #QualityEducation #BetterFuture #TeacherRecognition #InspiringTeachers #ValueEducation #DignifyTeachers #JohnBaptistDeLaSalle #BlessingsForTeachers #TogetherForEducation
