I had a CMO ask me for a simple explanation of open innovation and how it could benefit them. Here’s my take on it: "Open innovation is when companies collaborate with other organizations, startups, or individuals outside their usual teams to generate new ideas and solutions. Instead of relying solely on their own staff, they look for inspiration and expertise from external sources, which helps them innovate faster and tackle challenges more effectively." I assist organizations by introducing, scoping, and sometimes managing open innovation initiatives. Pairing large companies with individuals or small startups isn’t always straightforward, as overcoming "Not Invented Here" (NIH) biases is often necessary before real progress can be made. #openinnovation #consulting #NIH

Did you know that YETI solves problems for companies in Dresden? 💡 After the scholarship holders have learned the design thinking framework in the first semester, they consolidate what they have learned in the following semester. YETI's industrial partners change regularly, as does the size of the companies, which range from Dresden startups like "Was hab ich?" to large corporations like "Zeiss". These companies pass on their practical problems to teams of 3-5 YETIs, who then develop an #innovative solution in the second semester, always in close cooperation with the partner. Here, too, the YETIs have the opportunity to present their results at the Demo Day at the end of the semester and, if they choose, to continue as a #startup. In this way, design thinking is further solidified and new experience can be gained with partner companies. 🚀
