For the past two years, Western Pennsylvania Diaper Bank has worked with the University of Pittsburgh Student Affairs to distribute packages of period products to first-year students during Welcome Week. These packages, assembled by fellow Pitt students, contained a three month supply of period products and allowed students to try different products they might be interested in, like Aerie Real Period Underwear and period cups. Per Kristy Giandomenico-Meaner, former Assistant Director of the Office of PittServes in Student Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh, “Something that has been pricier was made more accessible to them through these donations from WPADB. We had students that were so excited to have the Aerie underwear because some students said they would have never been able to pay for them.” “These products are a cost that some of our students have to think about. The fact that they can receive a product they need for no cost makes them feel better. Having an event that gives out a resource that they use regularly speaks volumes and welcomes them,” said Giandomenico-Meaner. When it comes to period products and students, the State of the Period study done by PERIOD in 2021 says that 1 in 4 students that menstruate experience period poverty. By holding this distribution at the University of Pittsburgh, we are supporting and easing an element of stress they could potentially face during the school year. Our partnership with the University of Pittsburgh has helped us give over 107,580 period products total over the past two years to students. Each bag given to students saves them approximately $50. Give today and help us fight period poverty and meet our goal of $2,000! Your donation will help us continue to support students at the University of Pittsburgh as well as the families we serve in the community. Children all over the world are unable to access something that should be one of the basic human rights: quality, inclusive education. And without education, we all know what kind of future a child can hope for. Imagine Musoke, a ten-year-old boy who starts his day every morning looking for plastics in Lugazi for just €1.30 a day. His single mother couldn’t afford the fees to send him to school. Or Benson, 11 years old and already a primary Seven kid in Kinyoro Village. He dreams of being a professional football player so he can support his family. These are the kinds of stories we’ve seen firsthand when we’ve gone into the communities where we work. We find resilient, capable kids who, if given a chance, can rise out of the clutches of poverty. But the key to this is EDUCATION. You can help us change lives. We have so far put 12 of our kids back in school, where they learn the tools to go on in life and make a difference in their own communities. We provide books and learning materials and we equip youth to learn a valuable trade. But we can’t do any of this without your help, and TODAY is really important! We stand by our promise that 100% of your donation goes to funding our educational projects to the children. How You Can Help: 1️⃣ Spread the word - Share this post and let your friends know about our mission! 2️⃣ Tag someone who shares your passion for education. 📚 $15 provides learning materials for one child 🍲 $20 provides a school meal a day for one child for a month 🏫 $200 sponsors one child’s educational costs for an entire year EDUCATE INSPIRE TRANSFORM www.solugzi.com

President, Prince of Peace Catholic School (PreK-8, Plano, TX) Principal St. Michael Catholic H.S. (AL), Head of Pope John Paul II H.S. (TN), President and Principal of Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School (K-12, AL)
Let’s Quit Calling It a “Sacrifice” to Send Children to Catholic Schools! Language matters, and over time, it shapes our thinking. That’s why I advocate that we stop using the word “sacrifice” to describe what parents do when they send their children to Catholic schools. “Sacrifice,” in simplest terms, means “to sell at a loss.” If we tell parents they are “sacrificing” to send their children to us, we are telling them, literally, that they are doing charitable work to send us their kids, when in fact, they are doing exactly the opposite: they are INVESTING in our schools for something of great value for their children. Do we praise parents for their “sacrifice” in purchasing a nice home for their families? Do we thank families for “sacrificing” to take their families on vacation? Of course not. These are value propositions. We judge homes, cars and vacations as worthy of the money we spend. I am not discounting the fact it’s hard for many parents to choose to send us their kids! For some, it’s very hard! But by describing that choice as a “sacrifice,” we unwittingly devalue our schools, projecting ourselves as weak and puny, beggars for our parent's charity. Here, instead, is our value proposition: —Catholic schools provide a first-tier education for their children, within the context of a joyful, practicing community of faith. —Catholic schools help students discern God’s will for their lives, which leads to their life-long happiness. —Catholic schools help kids get to heaven! The truth is, paying to send their children to our schools is the best investment a parent can ever make! Catholic schools need to get our swagger back!

The student housing crisis has only become more prevalent, which is why BSLS is working hard to rollout a plan to support our members who are facing homelessnesses during school.👇 Over the past two decades, the cost of tuition, fees, and room and board has increased by 32% at public four-year institutions, 26% at private non-profits, and 11% at public two-year schools. However, household income has not kept up. In 2020, the Hope Center for College, Community, and Justice conducted the #RealCollege Survey of more than 195,000 students. Of those surveyed, 58% reported experiencing basic needs insecurity, defined as experiencing some form of food insecurity, homelessness, or housing insecurity. Students facing these critical issues are less likely to complete their degree and more likely to face other hardships. This is why we feel passionate about finding a solution! 💜 Realtors, STEM Professionals, Lawyers, Artists, Entrepreneurs, and other passionate individuals - We need your help to bring this initiative to life! Donate now at https://lnkd.in/gZy6YCu or connect to sponsor a BSLS Housing Community for our student members.

The Private School Village community came together in a remarkable way earlier this year. With invaluable support and donations, we piloted a unique elementary scholarship program, The Village Scholarship. Together, we were able to award six families from five local private schools partial scholarships totaling over $220,000 for the duration of the elementary school experience, pending yearly renewals. It was a milestone moment for our almost six-year-old organization, as it's the first time a grass-roots community like ours has come together to resource and support others from our community in this way. It also highlighted several things about the financial aid model that we would like to learn more about to better help our community thrive fully through the private school experience. PSV has partnered with Chloe McKenzie, a renowned Researcher, Writer, Educator, and Wealth Justice Activist, to learn more about financial aid and economic experiences. Chloe brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to this subject area and today, we are thrilled to announce the launch of an anonymous and confidential survey for all private school families. This survey, which will take approximately 20 minutes to complete, is open to everyone—whether you receive traditional financial aid, pay full tuition, or have any other financial experience. We want to underscore that this survey is inclusive and values the input of all families, regardless of racial, ethnic, socioeconomic background or location. As a token of our appreciation, you will be entered into a random drawing to win $100 if you complete the survey by June 10 (your chances increase if you complete the entire survey). More importantly, your feedback will help PSV identify best practices, make recommendations about improving the experiences, and ensure that those who find themselves most in a position of need in our schools are also those who feel seen, valued, and supported through the critical and necessary aid process. Please take a moment to take this survey (https://lnkd.in/gQ3QnN23) and lend your support to bettering our collective and individual experiences in private schools.

🚫 Protect Sarasota Children's Future: Reject Project 2025's Radical Education Policies! 🚫 Project 2025's radical education policies threaten our children's future! Their plan to dismantle the Department of Education, slash $18 billion in funding for low-income students, and eliminate crucial programs like free school meals and Head Start is cruel and unacceptable. We cannot let #MAGA radicals like - Richard Corcoran, - Bridget Ziegler - Karen Rose - Greg Wood, and - Thomas Andrew Babicz continue to harm Sarasota County Schools and New College of Florida students. These actions would strip our schools of vital resources, undermine #civilrights, and treat education as a privilege rather than a right. Let's unite to safeguard our education system's integrity and ensure every #child receives the quality education they deserve. 📜 Project 2025's Proposals: ❌ Dismantling the Department of Education ❌ Cutting $18 billion in funding for low-income students ❌ Eliminating free school meals and Head Start Save our schools! Elect Liz Barker and Tom Edwards to the School Board. 💪 Donate today to support our cause! 💰 #ProtectOurSchools #EducationForAll #SayNoToProject2025

We focus on teen empowerment on the second day of our LBDI campaign. Through InSTEP (In Support of Teen Empowerment and Progress), a Junior League of The Woodlands, Inc. program, helps improve social skills, academic achievement, and self-esteem. One issue that InSTEP tackles is Period Poverty—a growing public health crisis and stigma that keeps girls out of school. One in four young women has missed school as a result of their lack of access to period products. Since the coronavirus pandemic, chronic absenteeism has increased nationwide, and Period Poverty is contributing to the rise. One study found that by ninth grade, every week a student misses school reduces that student’s chance of graduating by about 20%. Your donation makes a real impact. In the last two years, In STEP distributed over 100,000 feminine hygiene products across 8 school districts in North Harris and Montgomery County, combating the effects of Period Poverty and chronic absenteeism. All funds raised contribute to addressing poverty issues and supporting youth in our community. Empowering Orphans Through Education At God's Grace and Mercy Children Foundation, we believe that education is a fundamental right for every child, regardless of their background. We are dedicated to ensuring that every orphan we support has access to quality education. Quality education is crucial for orphans as it empowers them, opens doors to better economic opportunities, and helps them develop their personality and social skills. An educated child positively impacts their community, contributing to a brighter, more prosperous future for all. Proverbs 22:6 (NIV) says, "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it." By providing orphans with access to quality education, we give them the chance to thrive and reach their full potential, as God intends. Your support can make a transformative difference in their lives. Join us in this mission. Together, we can change the life of an orphaned child.
