"A breakthrough in high-performance computing (HPC) and quantum chemistry, powered by the world’s fastest supercomputer and leading technology, is set to revolutionise drug discovery and unlock new ways to target a range of diseases. Led by University of Melbourne theoretician and HPC expert Associate Professor Giuseppe Barca, a research team has achieved the first quantum simulation of biological systems at a scale necessary to accurately model drug performance. Utilising the unprecedented “exascale” power of the Frontier supercomputer at the Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility in Tennessee, US, the team has developed groundbreaking software capable of accurately predicting the chemical reactions and physical properties of molecular systems comprising up to hundreds of thousands of atoms – delivering highly precise predictions of molecular behaviour and setting a new benchmark in computational chemistry." #quantum #compchem #chemistry #breakthrough #hpc #exascale #frontier #drugdiscovery

But how do you make two great work cultures to work together as one? How can 1 + 1 equal 3? 'Work culture as a strategic asset' is becoming an increasingly big area we are offering to our clients at ReD Associates. Applying the humanities and social sciences to understand the worlds of people, and building great strategies on a deeper understanding of what is happening now and in the future in the world out there, has always been at the core of what ReD does, and does well. But there is an increasing demand from our clients in using the same approach to look deeper into the bellies of big organisations, in order to create better work cultures, and build more inclusive colleagues and leaders. A strong work culture gives organisations a competitive advantage, and the toolkit of the social scientist is optimized for leaders to work with internal culture as a strategic asset.
