I’m sure I’m not the only one in this boat. When you tell people that community engagement gives you joy or that you love volunteering, the way they look at you is often puzzling ,like, "What are you saying? Volunteering doesn’t pay; it can’t put food on your table." I just give them my bombastic eye, thinking, "You just can’t understand." 😄 But I know many of you do understand.
