Jet-setting animal lovers could soon travel with their furry friends under a proposal from Virgin Australia to allow animals on board flights. 'Virgin Australia wants to be the first airline in the country to allow small animals to travel with passengers on domestic flights, and the airline will seek regulatory approval to make it happen. 'Under the proposal, pet parents would pay extra to sit in designated aisles – and Rex and Mittens would travel in carriers under their seats. 'Pooches would not be permitted to pop up onto passengers’ laps for a pat mid-flight and the service would be restricted to small pets.' Bark Air will be launching two routes from the New York City area. Westchester County Airport - HPN to Van Nuys Airport AND HPN to London Stansted (STN). Soooo, how MUCH do you love your dog? Ticket prices will start at $6,000 one-way for travel between New York and SoCal and $8,000 one-way for travel between New York and London. BARK says that its cabins can accommodate up to 15 dogs and 15 humans, but it will limit the manifest to 10 dogs and 10 humans per flight. So ~$60K for one domestic leg? Well done Bark Air.
