BBR Indie Films operates WITHOUT favoritism or political influence. Our selection process is Rigorous and Fair. It is conducted by a diverse panel of your PEERS, filmmakers, movie lovers, and industry professionals (men, women, different ethnic backgrounds). Each person reviews individually each submission carefully, rating the best films of the season, which tallys a score. The highest scores, by the majority of the screeners, are the ones selected to premiere! Another factor, on average, we receive between 135 and 165 film submissions per season. Given the limited number of slots, many exceptional films unfortunately can not be selected for a premiere. Many festivals charge submission fees, We currently, NOT, BUT for our March event, we will begin charging a fee as well. We've done an entire year of waived Free submissions. BBR Indie Films is committed to supporting the indie film community. Our focus is on fostering growth, collaboration, and the celebration of cinematic talent. If your film wasn't selected, we encourage you to keep applying, be open to growth, attend our events, look at the quality of the film selected, listen to the sound, storyline, and performances and see what YOUR PEERS are gravitating too, do a comparison of your work to those that were selected by your peers, volunteer to be a screener with BBR and see first hand how competitive it is! We believe in the potential of every filmmaker and hope you'll continue to strive for excellence. BBR Indie Films is committed and will continue to showcase the best of independent cinema. Submissions end on Dec 18th! https://lnkd.in/eJRgFFgN Good luck!! #bbrindiefilms #qualityovereverything #nofavortismhere

Changes announced last month to both the UK and the Quebec production incentives for film and television production will, undoubtedly, have considerable significance in re-shaping the placement of VFX contracts, the co-location decisions of VFX firms, and the accumulation of VFX talent in key cities in those territories. See my analysis and illustrations of what those changes could mean here: https://lnkd.in/e3PreHZR #FilmIndustry, #Economy, #creativeindustries

We think of filmmaking strictly in terms of hierarchy. Director and Producers are on top. With everyone else jockeying for positions underneath. But the better structure for filmmaking is Networks of Confidence: https://lnkd.in/g2P58wQN

The art of the cut, which is now so central to video editing, dates back to the very first films in the late 1800s. Early films were shot in a single take, but in 1903, Edwin S. Porter changed the game with his film The Great Train Robbery. He used cuts between different scenes to create a more dynamic narrative, marking the birth of modern film editing. The longest continuous shot in a movie without any cuts is over 90 minutes long! It's from the 2015 film Victoria, which was filmed in a single take across 22 different locations in Berlin. The seamless flow of the story without any visible edits showcases the incredible coordination and skill involved in both filming and editing to achieve such an effect! I’ve worked with many indie filmmakers over the years, and one area they often overlook is the potential of VFX. Visual effects aren’t just for big-budget blockbusters. Indie films can greatly benefit from the right effects to enhance their storytelling, even on a limited budget. 💡 Tip for indie filmmakers: Small VFX tweaks can have a big impact on your film’s overall look and feel. Curious about how I help indie filmmakers level up their projects with VFX? Check out my work here 👉 https://buff.ly/4eJVteZ
