At times, it's quite frustrating to see businesses undervaluing the Finance Director role and hiring very shiny but totally pedestrian FDs. The investment decision to hire a new one is critical to growth, success, survival, investment and potentially exit but it often fails to go through any kind of process due diligence. The Finance Director should be one of the key business drivers of growth and value. If they're not, you don't have an FD. Choosing from 5 CVs that have been sourced from a vanilla advert and a live database just doesn't cut it I'm afraid. If you're rushing, take a step back, find an interim to take the pressure off and then run the permanent process properly. A good process should take at least 6 weeks (sometimes 7). You probably won't pay much more and, my goodness, it should be enjoyable, insightful and above all else, very valuable! Feel free to pick our brains (without obligation) if any of this sounds relevant to you or to one of your clients. KUDU / Don (https://lnkd.in/e8MrW5Ux) #financedirector #recruitment #yorkshire #sme

📈 Inflation and the Talent Shortage 👨💼 🥊 Entry-level Role vs. Big City Living 🥊 Inflation is hitting hard, and it's definitely contributing to the U.S. talent shortage Meet John for example John is an Accounts Payable Clerk living in NYC The average salary for his role is around $55k But he's such a cool guy they pay him $65k. So John's monthly take-home is about $4,200. What are John's monthly expenses you ask? Rent: $3,500/mo Utilities: $150/mo Transportation: $127/mo Food: $400/mo Healthcare: $300/mo So... If John did absolutely nothing but 💼 Work 🍲 Eat 🌬 Breathe 😴 Sleep He would proudly net .... 🤑 (-$277) a month 🤑 How many other jobs fit in this category? _______ #TalentShortage #Inflation #AccountsPayable #FinanceJobs #NYC #Accounting #Finance #CPA #Big4 #Tax #Audit

🔍 #GoldbeckReports: Finance Edition 📈 💰 Goldbeck Recruiting’s Senior Recruiters have reported being tasked with more CFO searches in the past year than usual, with retirement being a major factor. “Clients aren’t able to find the competencies necessary to fill the position internally,” reports Researcher Li Chieh Ho, MAS “This is possibly due to a lack of succession planning.” There has also been an increase in searches for payroll positions, while controller searches are robust, as always. A recent tax manager search conducted by the team proved difficult, which is not uncommon for the position. Tax specialist positions are always amongst the hardest to fill in the finance sector. “There are openings in both the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors, with the latter, of course, coming with slightly lower salaries,” says Goldbeck President Henry Goldbeck. According to Senior Recruiter Karen Epp, there is an abundance of talent available that lacks Canadian experience, providing an opportunity for hiring companies. “The challenge,” she cautions, “is that many come from large corporations, so their experience is not always in perfect alignment with the needs of smaller businesses based in Vancouver.” #jobsearch #accounting #executivesearch
