Imagine not having full control over your own living conditions and lacking the funding or support to do anything about it. Imagine feeling powerless to give your children clean air to breathe. Feeling hopeless that things will never get better. I've seen it firsthand and it's a real problem. I need to ask you a favour. Remote areas don't have the same kind of access to the services they need to keep their living conditions healthy. Those services are too far away, too expensive or both. I've developed an Indigenous training program to empower these communities to fix their homes and buildings. It also opens the door to career and business opportunities. This is where you come in. Let's make a difference together. Tag all the housing managers, pre-employment services managers, and band council members you know. Consider immigrating to Wellington, New Zealand's capital city, for #psychologist jobs in mental health, injury rehabilitation, criminal justice, and special education sectors. Wellington is ideal for those seeking a compact harbour city with vibrant arts, cafes, and restaurant culture. It is a good destination for families, couples, and single immigrants. Wellington is home to around 216,000 inhabitants and encompasses a waterfront promenade, sandy beaches, a working harbour and colourful timber houses on surrounding hills. The city is near the North Island's southernmost point, just a short ferry trip across the Cook Strait to the South Island. Strong winds funnelled through the Cook Strait, giving it the nickname "Windy Wellington." The Lonely Planet travel guide described Wellington as the coolest little capital as it combines the vibrancy and convenience of big-city living with the calmness and serenity of small-town. There isn't too much traffic, allowing for short commutes and minimal pollution. It is a safe and prosperous city that offers plenty of opportunities and advantages for families with children, such as excellent healthcare, high-quality education, etc. Wellingtonians enjoy living close to nature and various arts, sports, recreation and adventure activities. Expect a slightly lower cost of living compared to other world capitals and nearby big cities (Auckland, Sydney, Melbourne, etc.); however, housing costs will be higher than in more provincial towns. The busy Wellington airport provides extensive links to all parts of #NewZealand and direct flights to the eastern coast of #Australia. Absolutely fantastic joint event between the North Strathclyde MAPPA Team and Inverclyde Community Justice Partnership and the Inverclyde 3rd Sector Community Justice Forum ( 3SCJF) on MAPPA awareness for the 3rd sector. This training event has been planned for a few months following discussions with Robbie Miller and the team at Inverclyde Faith in Throughcare and how individuals subject to MAPPA restrictions could access the service they offer. It quickly led to our Partnership Chair Vicki Cloney looking to organise MAPPA awareness training for Inverclyde 3SCJF, recognising that this was probably relevant for all third sector partners. So why is this awareness important? Third Sector services locally deliver non-statutory services which help an individual address offending behaviour and attitudes as well as related issues (for example – voluntary throughcare, supported tenancies); and broader services which aim to improve individuals’ wider circumstances (for example – housing, health, employment) – all of which can have an effect on the individual’s circumstances, behaviour and risk. From a wider community justice partnership/strategic planning sense this fits really well with national aim 4 and strengthening partnership working and as the Partnership carries out the engagement around our CJOIP there are more opportunities to highlight the crucial role the third sector plays, the challenges that exist and the opportunities to develop over the next few years.
