We’re working with Bradford Council to help improve journeys between Steeton and Silsden for people who walk and cycle. We’ve updated our proposals to build a new walking and cycling bridge over the A629 and want to know what you think. What impact will this have on your business? There’s still time to tell us your views on the proposals and help shape the final plans. Learn more about the project and tell us your views over on Your Voice. You can also register for the in-person drop-in sessions in Steeton and Silsden, which will be held in early February. A list of dates and venues can be on Your Voice. https://lnkd.in/epxU4dQC

👇 🚲 Lots of exciting plans being shared for cycle routes in Glasgow at the moment, including for this vital north-south link through the city centre. Worth taking a look if you currently travel by bike or (just as importantly!) if you don't currently but would love to have a safer, direct option for the commute or everyday travel. As ever, the evidence is abundantly clear that when high-quality, well-connected cycling routes are built, whether that be in the Netherlands, Denmark or Scotland... it gives people the confidence to get around by bike. With continual growth being seen on new routes across Scotland, in Stirling, Edinburgh, Glasgow and elsewhere recently: https://lnkd.in/eFvttyZs
We’re proposing a new cycling route on West Nile Street in the city centre. The active travel link will run parallel to Buchanan Street, creating a north-south connection between Cowcaddens Road and Argyle Street. Shared, open spaces along West Nile Street will also be refreshed to create a safer, more enjoyable and inclusive environment. Take a look at the proposals and attend a drop-in event to give us your feedback: 📍Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, Strathclyde Suite ⏰Wednesday 20 November - 3.30pm until 7.00pm You can also share your views via an online survey 👉https://lnkd.in/e8ia_A-e

Short introduction video about my research and its relevance. Cool fieldwork included :)
Hey LinkedIn network! As my very first post on LinkedIn, I'm happy to share a video that we recently made about our project on carbon cycling in coastal wetlands. This video talks about our field project at the coast of the Wadden Sea (Germany) in 2023. Big shoutout to Felix Tisch for helping us make this short piece! https://lnkd.in/e8tSqakC

I've joined the Dopracenabicykli competition for the first time! While I might not cover the longest distances, you can definitely count on me for the number of rides. This competition is fantastic for promoting city biking, and our department's cycling enthusiasm is high even outside of the competition months. Nevertheless, If you're curious about the impact of entry on the bike-sharing industry, check out our paper published this year for some insights https://lnkd.in/eKYd8pDW

LOOKING FOR IDEAS! I am co-writing a blog with Esther W. from Outride about the importance of keeping participants engaged in programmes supporting cycling uptake even during challenging weather conditions such as winter, rainy periods, or extreme heat. We are looking for examples of creative activities, strategies, or ideas to feature in this piece. If you’d like to contribute, or if you know about any projects that tackle these challenges, please send me a message with: the name of the programme, the city/country, 2-3 sentences about the creative activity, strategy, or idea; and a photo (optional, but preferred) by 27 November. Here’s an example from one of Outride's partner schools in the US that has long, harsh winters and therefore sets up indoor obstacle courses to make it fun and challenge different levels of participants: https://lnkd.in/eXXSkCvB

Shit happens, and when it does, you need to be ready to change your goals. Alex had big goals on the national stage for mountain biking until he broke his arm cycling. The arm had to be pinned back together with a long recovery. He had to adjust his goals and decided that he'd focus on cyclocross this fall and build his form back up for mountain biking in the spring and summer. Sometimes you need to adjust because of injury, or when life happens. If you're focusing on process goals, they might stay the same: improving pace or speed or power. But adjusting the big outcome goals may need to change. And that's okay. Adjust, accept, and move on. #goals #fitnessgoals #outcomegoals #processgoals #WhatsNext #simpleendurancecoaching

Getting 1% better every day means making tiny improvements regularly. Dave Brailsford, coach of the British cycling team, called this idea "marginal gains." By improving small things like bike seats and nutrition by 1%, the team had the most successful run in cycling history. Focus on small, consistent changes in your daily routine, and over time, these will add up to significant improvements. #growthmindset #marginalgains #dailyimprovement #bettereveryday #marginalgains #davebrailsford #1percentbetter #tinyimprovements #successhabits #personaldevelopment
