Hey all, it's Adam from Venture Philly. I'm standing outside of Independence Hall on a very important day. Today is July 2nd, our Independence Day, and you might be thinking, well wait a minute, isn't July 4th our Independence Day? I've always been told it's July 4th. Everyone who tells me it's July 4th is our Independence Day. Aren't they right? Wrong, wrong. July 2nd is our actual Independence Day. That is when the Second Continental Congress from this building votes to separate from England. On July 2nd, 1776, two days later, Thomas Jefferson submits to Congress a follow up document explaining why they had just separated from England and that is his Declaration of Independence. And that document is voted and passed on the 4th of July, but the actual vote to separate from England happened on the 2nd of July. So that is why today is a very special day. It's why is our actual Independence Day is July 2nd.
