🌐 3rd Best Young Foundry Talent 2024 I was really happy to meet Shrivatsav Shankar from UC Irvine Advanced Casting Research Center (ACRC) and award him with this recognition. His work on upcycling low-value post consumer aluminum scrap and his attitude were decisive factors to make him one of the best young professionals in the #YRC2024. Let me also add that he has an extremely good taste for music… Also, a mention to the great job of Raquel Fierro Jaime who was part of the best ten authors in the final stage, what a great team you have there at the Advanced Casting Research Center (ACRC)! We would like to congratulate Fangtian Deng for this doctorate. She took part in the last stage of the first edition of the WFO Young Researchers Conference in 2023 and since then she has kept working hard advancing a promising career. All the best for the future!

Congratulations on your doctorate at Fraunhofer IGCV! Fangtian Deng successfully defended her dissertation entitled “Exploring the Impact of Mold Coating Thickness on Thin-Walled Castings Quality and Developing In-Line Monitoring Solution” today. The examination committee consisting of Prof. Philipp Lechner, Prof. Rüdiger Daub and Prof. Wolfram Volk awarded the thesis magna cum laude. In her research, which was carried out at Fraunhofer IGCV, Fangtian Deng provides insights into the relationship between mold coating thickness and the quality of thin-walled castings. She also offers innovative solutions for an efficient and cost-effective method for inline monitoring of mold layer thickness. Fangtian is an enthusiastic scientist for a wide range of digitalization topics in mechanical engineering. She has also been on the market for a year with her start-up Research Vision GmbH, which deals with interactive 3D visualization. ⏳ WFO Throwback Thursday #TBT Young authors from USA, Finland, Japan, Spain, China, India and Germany took part in June 2024 in several networking actions in Germany as part of the final stage of the WFO Young Researchers Conference, an action aimed at identifying some of the most #talented and #promising #young professionals in the foundry industry. It was a good opportunity for them to interact with international counterparts and to learn more from metalcasting, as well as for relevant companies in this industry to meet them and know more about their work and plans. #Foundry #Metalcasting #TheWFO #Industry #Young #Talent #Career The WFO (World Foundry Organization)
