Now that I've had some weeks to reflect on my four years at Vodafone UK as Head of Editorial & Content in the company's Corporate Affairs & Sustainability directorate, I've come to some conclusions that may be of interest to those in the corporate comms/reputation management/editorial space. And the main conclusion is this: editorial works. Or rather, good editorial works. And by editorial I'm talking the full monty - news stories, press releases, features, videos, animations, infographics, thought leadership pieces, social media posts, speeches, across all digital channels and live in-person events. Good editorial will: 1) boost the reputation of your company among existing customers, increasing brand loyalty and customer advocacy, thereby helping to reduce churn and increase upselling opportunities 2) improve non-user consideration - crucial in very competitive markets where the decision to go with one brand over another can be highly marginal 3) help persuade regulators, politicians, and potential partners of the merits of your corporate strategic objectives through well-argued thought leadership pieces 4) inform and entertain your employees, who then feel prouder of the company they work for and become more enthusiastic ambassadors for your brand 5) deflect or neutralise negative media coverage 6) markedly increase traffic to your digital channels thereby improving search engine optimisation which then supports the company’s commercial as well as reputational aims 7) help all your stakeholders understand just what a brilliant company you are, worth investing in, worth working for, worth buying from, worth listening to, worth merging with! But what makes for good editorial? Ah well, that's why you need people like me! 😊 My philosophy is quite straightforward really: make it interesting and tell a human-centred story. Think ‘business-to-human’ rather than traditional B2B or B2C. And this applies equally to the CEO/Board-level comms as to customer-focused comms. Yes, editorial works. And I have the stats to prove it. Do get in touch if you think I could help your company stand out and shine in a very noisy, competitive world. #corporatecommunications #reputationmanagement #editorial #marketing

While it is important that you learn the basics, completing just one course does not qualify you as an expert. There are many facets of digital marketing that newcomers in the field need to take into account before calling themseves an expert. If you cannot find a mentor, my word of advice is to follow the leading experts in the field, study their work and make a comprehensive analysis of their projects. Furthermore, no matter how knowledgable you are on a subject matter, there is always going to be someone better than you. Embrace the learning curve and strive to ‘sharpen the saw.’

I've hired dozens of remote Performance Marketers, and unfortunately, many haven't lived up to their social media hype. While they may present themselves as experts on social media, ahhhh the reality is often disappointing, which is devaluing the credibility of genuine experts in e-commerce. In contrast, those I've personally trained or developed from trainees to Performance Marketers consistently show more passion, creative thinking, and a deep understanding of both the buyer's persona and the dynamics of the creative world.

...guys, I re-wrote this post about 8723546923476h97234x. 🔄 I was gonna tell you some story about how it's been a crazy first week of 2024. 🤯 ...and how my 3 y/o is currently sitting in my lap, while I draft this post. (Shout out to Bluey for holding it down). OR Give you a round-up of all the kick-ass results we landed in 2023. 🚀 OR Shout out some slightly relevant lessons that I learned in running a business for nearly 10 years. 📚 And then somehow I was going to tie that into our goals for 2024? 🎯 You get the gist. 🤷♂️ When the truth is...a lot of people are out of work right now. 😔 It's a tough market. 💼 And whelp. I wanna warm up our talent bench. 🔥 So I'm asking for your help. Tag some peeps who are looking for PR work. I'm holding open office hours every Friday at 9am PST / 12pm EST. ⏰ About you: We're especially interested if you're in the D.C. / Northern Virginia area looking to break into PR. Think account coordinator roles 🗞 💚 About us: We're a fully remote PR agency, owned and operated by women, with some of the most amazing (and incredibly kind) clients. If you're looking for a unicorn agency. We are it. 🌐🦄 Pop into my DMs. 📥 let's see how I can help. ---------------------------------------------------------------- 🙋🏻♀️Hi! I'm Britt - I turn national lifestyle and real estate brands into media magnets. ⌨️PM to chat all things PR! #PublicRelationsAgency #PR #MediaRelations
