The deal is expected to close in mid-2025, pending regulatory approvals. This strategic focus aligns with the broader goal of leveraging 5G to support innovative applications and services across industries, ultimately driving operational efficiency and competitive advantage for enterprise customers. T-Mobile reported record growth in service revenues, profitability, and cash flow for 2023, completed its merger integration, and delivered $14 billion to stockholders, solidifying its position as the nationwide overall network leader. I view this acquisition as a major boost for the US 5G market. Integrating UScellular's operations with T-Mobile's network will enhance service quality and coverage, especially in rural areas. This will drive competition, pushing other carriers to innovate, ultimately benefiting consumers with better services and value. The next phase of 5G development will focus on expanding coverage, enhancing network capacity, and improving latency. Deployment of more mid-band and mmWave spectrum will deliver faster speeds and support more connected devices. Network slicing will allow for new high-growth segments optimized for specific applications. AI will undoubtedly have a strong impact on this development by optimizing network operations, managing traffic, and enhancing security. AI-driven analytics will enable predictive maintenance, reducing downtime and improving reliability. ++ Nokia to Acquire #Infinera in $2.3 Billion Deal to Boost Optical Networking ++ Nokia and Infinera, a global supplier of innovative open optical networking solutions and advanced optical semiconductors, today announced a definitive agreement under which Nokia will acquire Infinera in a transaction valuing the company at $6.65 per share or an enterprise value of US$ 2.3 billion. The transaction represents a premium of 28% to Infinera’s share price at the close of 26 June 2024 and a 37% premium to the trailing 180-day volume weighted average price (VWAP). At least 70% of the consideration will be paid in cash and Infinera’s shareholders can elect to receive up to 30% of the aggregate consideration in the form of Nokia ADSs.
