Happy New Year! 🎆 2024 is here, and as we approach 10 years of #FashionRevolution, we’re calling for a year of revolutionary action to demand a fair, safe, clean, transparent and accountable fashion industry. Here is some food for thought as we head into the next 12 months of fashion activism...⠀ 🌍 What would happen if everyone, everywhere took one action to change the fashion industry? ✊🏽 What would happen if we all recognised our power as citizens, rather than consumers? 💭 What does your version of fashion activism look like? 🎨 What skills can you bring to the Fashion Revolution in 2024? We hope that you’ll join us in making this year one of collective action and keep applying pressure to the systems that reinforce inequality and devalue our natural world.

CREATIVITY COACH & COPYWRITER • I help Creatives & Startups 🪠GET UNSTUCK 🪠so they can creatively express their world-changing ideas with confidence💡
Artists are often the changemakers of this world – and we always go FIRST. The delightful Belinda Humphrey let me tag along to a screening of Fashion Reimagined last night at Palace Cinemas Kino which had a cheeky Q & A with some incredible women from the Aussie fashion industry. First of all, the film itself was STUNNING, tracking the journey of Mother of Pearl Creative Director, Amy Powney, on her quest to create a sustainable high fashion line called, ironically, No Frills. A few learnings... 👉 The lack of transparency in fashion supply chains means that many designers (or suppliers themselves) don't know where their materials actually come from. 👉 3 out of 5 garments end up in landfill within a year of purchase, which is a stat that boggled my mind. 👉 There are some amazing people out there fighting the good fight and making the system better (like GOTS), but we've got a long way to go, especially Down Under! After the screening, there was a panel discussion hosted by Jenna F. (from the Iconic Minimalist) featuring Rachel Reilly (National Manager, Ethical Clothing Australia), Marnie Goding (Brand Director & Co Founder, ELK) and Danielle Kent (Project Director of the National Clothing Stewardship Scheme, SEAMLESS). What I loved most is that these women didn't just wax poetic about how amazing the film was... they responded critically to its issues, sharing their lived experience and sparking new ideas we could all take home and implement. My favourite thought bubble: 💡 Don't just put the onus on the consumer – brands need to take full responsibility for every item they make, from creation to end of life. Lots to chew on and I highly recommend checking the doco out if you're interested in learning more 🎥 #fashionreimagined #sustainablefashion #changemakers

Tiny Sparks of Inspiration with Daniela: "Fashion Forward: Embracing Inclusion and Sustainability for a Transformative Future" At the Zero Project held recently in Vienna (Austria) I met @Samanta Bullock an amazing woman who like me believes fashion is more. In this short video I wish to share some considerations where I dissect the dynamics of the fashion world. Today, I delve into the strategic pivot towards inclusivity and sustainability. As brands redefine their policies, adaptive fashion emerges as a lucrative intersection of social responsibility and market demand. Analyzing this shift, we see it not just as a trend but a calculated business move. How can businesses navigate this paradigm shift successfully, ensuring profitability while championing social and environmental values? #fashion #inclusion #sustainabledesign #sustainable #socialimpact #environmental

Passionate about Sustainability by Design | Human Center Design | Women Empowerment | Social Impact Advocate
This #InternationalWomensDay, we celebrate the incredible women who've shaped the world, and that includes the sustainable fashionistas of the past! Did you know: Upcycling isn't new: In the 1940s, due to wartime fabric shortages, women in the US became masters of "make do and mend," revamping old clothes into new creations. Quality over quantity: Before fast fashion, clothing was built to last. Think Audrey Hepburn's iconic "little black dress" - a timeless piece that transcended trends. Sustainable icons: Women like Katharine Hepburn popularized pantsuits, challenging gender norms and paving the way for comfortable, empowering fashion. P.S. Share your favorite sustainable fashion tips or retro outfit inspiration in the comments! Let's celebrate women and a more sustainable future for fashion. #vintagevibes #sustainabledesign #sustainabilityleadership #womeninbusiness #iwd2024 #womenindesign #creativeleadership #creativejourney #girlswhoprint #sustainablefashion

Transparency is a crucial aspect that consumers expect from fashion brands. It not only builds trust but also helps in creating a sustainable fashion industry. Here are some ways fashion brands can be more transparent: Supply Chain Transparency: Fashion brands should disclose information about their supply chain, including the origin of raw materials, manufacturing, and transportation. This information can be shared on the brand's website or on the product label. Labor Practices: Brands should ensure that their workers are working under humane conditions and are paid fairly for their work. Brands should also disclose information about where their products are made and the conditions in which they are made. Environmental Impact: Fashion brands should disclose information about their environmental impact, including their carbon footprint, water usage, and waste management. Brands can also take steps to reduce their environmental impact by using sustainable materials and reducing waste. Social Responsibility: Brands should take responsibility for their impact on society and take steps to improve it. Brands can partner with organizations that work towards social causes such as poverty alleviation, education, and gender equality. By being transparent, fashion brands can build customer loyalty and contribute towards a sustainable fashion industry. It's time for the fashion industry to take a step towards transparency and create a better future for all.

We're all about shedding light on what goes on behind the scenes of your favourite fashion brands, and believe that understanding where your clothes come from is not just a trend, but a fundamental right for consumers everywhere. Transparency is more than just sharing a list of materials used. It's about revealing the journey of a garment from its origins to your wardrobe. It's about connecting the dots between designers, manufacturers, suppliers, and artisans, and telling their stories. It's about being open about the processes, challenges, and triumphs that shape the clothes you wear with pride. It's about creating a ripple effect of positive change. When brands open up about their practices, it encourages them to make sustainable choices, treat workers fairly, and minimise their environmental impact. And you, as a conscious consumer, get to make informed choices that align with your values. How can we all contribute to demystifying transparency? ♻️ Ask Questions: Don't be afraid to inquire about a brand's practices. Your curiosity drives change. ♻️ Support Transparent Brands: Choose to support brands that are committed to being open and accountable. ♻️ Spread the Word: Share the stories of brands that are making strides towards transparency. Your voice matters. ♻️ Advocate for Change: Encourage the industry to prioritize transparency through conversations and collaborations.
