CEO & Founder at Kuul Play | Empowering Gen Alpha to Love Movement & Play | Host of Kuul Conversations | Speaker | Former Elite Athlete | Innovating in Youth Sports
Did you see the sports industry’s joint statement on the rising global physical inactivity levels? New World Health Organization data reveals that 31% of adults are inactive, and this is projected to rise to 35% by 2030. The biggest takeaway? While the future of our industry is at stake, it’s also an incredible opportunity for the sports industry to innovate and evolve. 🚀 Next Monday, I'll be sitting down for a exclusive talk with World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI) CEO Emma P. (Mason) Zwiebler on Kuul Conversations to explore the sports industry's reaction and how ready the industry really is to act upon it. You won't want to miss this! 💥 My thoughts from years in the sports ecosystem? It's time we broaden our definition of sport. It's time we include movement and play in ways that resonate with today's culture and lifestyle. I've been out there on the ground, seeing thousands of kids across continents and understanding their movement and play experiences, and it's crystal clear why this matters. Our approach at Kuul Play has shown that when you meet kids where they are, you can transform their relationship with movement, activity and how they connect with sport. Let’s make sport accessible, engaging, and relevant for everyone. Most British sports fans become fans by the age of 14, with those that do much more likely to exercise every week, engage in social groups, and spend money on sport – new analysis from Two Circles has found. Sport has always had the capacity to drive passion and compulsive behaviour through extreme fanbase loyalty. However, for the first time, this research has uncovered a specific age when the impact of sport becomes most significant and leads to lifestyle and behavioural changes that can last a lifetime. Fans who ‘find’ sport by 14 are 41% more likely to exercise at least 150 minutes per week, are 71% more engaged in their communities through playing and engaging with sport, and almost 2.5 times more likely to spend their money on sport and related activities.
