I love the thrill of competition – it motivates me to put forth my best. And when it comes to reflecting on competition and winning, there is no better place to be than Indianapolis in May. On the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, hundreds of thousands of fans from around the globe will pack the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the annual running of the Indianapolis 500. As I look forward to taking in “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” for the first time as an Indiana resident, I'm reflecting on the parallels between our teams at Roche and the 33 racing teams that assemble each year for a chance to make history and what lessons we can learn. Competition Makes Us Better. It inspires us to innovate for patients and customers, continuously raising the bar on what is possible. Our Purpose Transcends One Person or Team. “Doing now what patients need next” requires a belief in why our organization exists – to make a difference for anyone who relies on diagnostics to make important healthcare decisions. What we do matters, and our seamless collaboration is crucial. Strategic Execution Is Key. Greatness is earned. It’s important to diligently prepare and execute a thoughtful plan, but when the unexpected occurs, to pivot while remaining focused, resilient and united. And while it may not involve drinking milk or a shiny trophy, one of the best parts about winning is celebrating the people who help make it happen. What’s your processes when buying a product or service? How much of your decision is made by the service or treatment that you get from that product or person? Personally, it’s a heavy factor for me. If I know that there is product that’s comparable or somewhat close, the treatment I receive and customer service is ultimately my deciding factor. As a sales professional I recognize good service and will go out of my way to return the favor in giving them my business. This message is 2 fold for me. The Powersports Rep Association will look to provide this standard and expectation to the dealer network we serve. Additionally, the latest trend and hype surrounding ZiiDMS, is simply because of the above. Yes we have cool technology and tools to help you streamline your day to day, but our hat is hung on ethical business practice (true partnership) and premier service. Have a great week!
