Today was a tough day at Cruise as the layoffs have affected nearly one out of four Cruisers. GM announces fresh rounds of #layoffs General Motors is set to lay off roughly 1,300 workers from two of its Michigan plants, according to filings with state regulators. The job cuts at GM’s Orion Assembly and Lansing Grand River Assembly follow news the automaker is delaying production of two all-electric pickups. Meanwhile, Cruise - General Motors’ robotaxi subsidiary — is laying off 900 employees, or 24% of its workforce. It’s the latest fallout for the company following an accident in October involving a Cruise AV and a pedestrian. Cruise has since suspended operations, recalled 950 self-driving vehicles and announced a reorganization. The majority of the layoffs at Cruise affect commercial operations and corporate staffing, per a company statement.
