The oak is inside the barrel -- up to 20 staves on a rotating carousel with all surfaces available to the spirit. We have a handful of lightly-toasted American Oak staves in this one to spice up a batch of gin. The staves can be swapped out through those triangular doors, and an integral paddle on the carousel can be used to agitate the liquid. 𝙉𝙤𝙬, 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙤 w𝙚 𝙣𝙖𝙢𝙚 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙗𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙚𝙡-𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙜𝙞𝙣?

It has been a little bit since I last visited with Marcia, and A LOT has been happening in the interim. To say that it has been a crazy, great, busy year for both her and the Ironroot Republic team would be a vast understatement. This dynamo of a human was just awarded the Icons of Whiskey Distillery Manager of the Year award by World of Whiskey. AND, building on a history of award-winning liquids, the Ironroot Republic team and brand have launched and been lauded for their recent creations as well. 2024 World of Whiskey - Ironroot Republic Hubris Straight Corn Whiskey - Gold 2024 World of Whiskey – Ironroot Republic Apotheosis Finished Bourbon – Bronze 2024 World of Whiskey – Ironroot Republic Harbinger Single Barrel Bourbon - Bronze 2023 USA Today 10 Best Craft Whiskey Distilleries - Readers’ Choice Award 2023 World of Whiskey - Icons of Whiskey Master Blender/Master Distiller – Jonathan Likarish - Highly Commended World of Whiskey 2023 - Ironroot Republic Apotheosis - World's Best Finished Bourbon World of Whiskey 2023 - Ironroot Republic Hubris - World's Best American Corn Whiskey Marcia attributes these accomplishments to a strongly held belief that "we do not achieve life's goals alone". She encourages team building with people from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. She also advocates for the suspension of personal ego in the pursuit of knowledge. Her favorite quote explains her philosophy and it is hard to argue with her when her family’s operation demonstrates the results achieved with the application of it. “Opinion is really the lowest form of human knowledge. It requires no accountability, no understanding. The highest form of knowledge… is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another’s world. It requires profound purpose larger than the self kind of understanding.” ― Bill Bullard Her words of wisdom for us all? Do not underestimate yourself or your teammates. Much can be achieved with the suspension of ego and the drive to achieve. Do you know, the use of barrel in Bourbon whisky 🥃 can't be reused for aging again and again. According to law, bourbon is a strictly American Native spirit that must be produced only in America. Perhaps, this is the reason everyone believes that real bourbon is made just in Kentucky. I just completed a Whiskey 🥃 traning program in #typsy #Hospitality #whisky #Bourbon #Bourbonproduction #Whiskyfementation #whiskyproduction

Decoding Cognac Age Statement If you love drinking Cognac, you might have seen some strange abbreviations written on its label and wondered what do they mean. We are here to tell you just that: 1️⃣VS- This abbreviation stands for “Very Special” and implies that the youngest blend in the bottle has been aged for a minimum of two years in casks. 2️⃣VSOP- This stands for “Very Superior Old Pale” and means that the youngest brandy in the bottle has been aged for a minimum of four years, giving the blend a more rounded and mature flavour. 3️⃣XO- This term stands for “Extra Old” and is usually used for super-premium cognacs in which the youngest brandy in the blend has been aged for a minimum of 10 years, making it rich, moody and complex. Meukow Cognac a family-owned estate that has been producing cognacs for 162 years, has been rated best in taste more than 30 times. Their VS, VSOP and XO cognacs perfectly express cask ageing for each statement. Have you tried any of these cognacs by Meukow? Share your experience with us in the comments section. #sonalholland #masterofwine #cognac #whisky #wineexpert

In the dynamic world of spirits, there's nothing more exciting than a new discovery. That moment when you uncork a bottle and the first whiffs of aroma transport you to a different place - or time. It's an experience I'm privileged to share with fellow enthusiasts every day, right here in Texas. Crafting spirits is not simply a business endeavor—it's an art form, an ongoing experiment powered by curiosity, tradition and the search for perfection. Our journey at our distillery has taken us through countless variations, each batch inspired by its unique character and story—the very essence of what makes ultra-premium Texas spirits stand out. We have a saying here--you have to make a lot of bad alcohol before you make great alcohol and it's a tiring amount of trials and tribulations before we can release a spirit at the level we and our consumers demand. As we traverse this intricate landscape of distilling in pursuit of perfection and greatness, let's not forget to appreciate the journey. Stay tuned for more insights from the world of craft distilling. Cheers! #craftspirits #texasdistillery #spiritinnovation #barrelaged
