Powerful demonstrations calling for the eradication of gender-based violence. During the #16DaysofActivism, let us remember that the violence we see against women today is not made up of isolated incidents. It is #systemic. It is a function of: -Our historical and ongoing patriarchal, colonial and capitalist system -Avoidance and dismissal of the systemic nature of gender-based violence -Undervaluing of and over-reliance on champions, activists and non-profit actors to make progress on gender-based violence priorities How might we all work to #eradicate gender-based violence? #EndViolenceAgainstWomen #HumanRights #GenderEquality #SystemsChange https://lnkd.in/gHzS63mq

International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women The United Nations defines violence against women as “any act of gender-based violence that causes or could cause physical, sexual or psychological harm or suffering to women, including threats of harm or coercion, in public or in private life.” Women from all cultures and backgrounds can experience gender-based violence. There is no part of society that is “immune” from men’s violence against women. Support the campaign by wearing a white ribbon during the 16-day period. A white ribbon is a symbol of peace and symbolises the commitment of the wearer to never commit or condone violence against women and children. Join the 16 Days of Activism and help build communities where women are safe and equal. It all starts with respect. "It is up to us to solve it, and not up to women to ask not to be killed.” said Abdul Khan who participated in a rally against gender-based violence. It’s time to walk the talk and stop #violenceagainstwomen. The onus is not just on governments, but each one of us as well. What can we do in our own families, communities, networks, and organisations? Collective action is vital for real change. EEO Specialists pledges to continue our mission to create safe and respectful workplaces. There is no room for sexual harassment, discrimination, and bullying. Our philanthropic commitment supports women who have experienced domestic violence. One such initiative is the Linkwest Purple Bench Micro Grants program: https://lnkd.in/gyxxqMBp If you, or someone you know is impacted by domestic, family or sexual violence, 1800RESPECT.org.au or 1800737732 is available for free and confidential support. #equalopportunity #socialjustice #workplacebehaviour
