In a Georgian village, a person has recently passed away, and the community is preparing for the funeral. The audio captures the heated debates and discussions surrounding the feast that will be prepared for the mourners. The film focuses on the performativity of funerals and the role of women in Georgian culture in orchestrating them, often in a grotesque manner. The importance of food is emphasized, particularly the abundance that must be presented at the funeral. I question the necessity of these performative rituals, which often overshadow the true purpose of mourning and celebrating the deceased’s life. Despite the solemnity of the occasion, I see death as a rebirth and question the need for excessive respect towards the body. Family Constellations offer an opportunity to gain insights into your family dynamics and uncover hidden patterns that may be influencing your relationships, health and well-being. You might feel you've done a lot of 'healing work' and there are still things that feel stuck in your life. This could stem from a trauma that your ancestors experienced or from patterns that developed as you tried to fit into your family, feeling a lack of belonging or that certain roles were required of you. In constellations we rely less on words and more on the knowledge held in our bodies. By setting up a 3-D image of the family system (or other issue we seek to explore) collectively we can start to see things differently. By acknowledging the systemic dynamics and offering healing sentences we can gently move towards more balance and space free from 'entanglements' from the past. I packed my gear and set off to Bears Ears National Monument with Steve 'Doom' Fassbinder. We spent days in this sacred landscape—riding, exploring, and sleeping under the stars—reconnecting with ourselves and the land. The experience was raw, a reminder that movement is medicine and that nature can heal what feels impossible. Bears Ears holds a deep history, a place once nearly lost to greed but preserved through the power of community and resilience. It’s a place that makes you feel small in the best way possible, grounding you in the simple beauty of being alive.
