An excellent insight by Brother Khalizan Halid on our PMC direction on Malaysia becoming a leading logistics hub globally.
Malaysia: A Rising Star in the Global Logistics Landscape
Malaysia was known as Tanah Melayu in the 15th century, it has a rich history as a trading nation mainly on spices when it was a key stop on the Spice Route.
This legacy has shaped the country's development into a modern logistics hub, strategically positioned at the heart of Southeast Asia.
Below are some of the key milestones in Malaysia's journey as a logistics powerhouse :-
Port Klang
Established in the 1970s, Port Klang has emerged as one of the busiest ports in Southeast Asia, now it handles a significant volume of containerized cargo.
KLIA Aeropolis
This integrated airport-centered development offers world-class air cargo facilities and logistics services, making it a vital hub for international trade.
Government Initiatives
The Malaysian government has consistently supported the growth of the logistics sector through policy reforms, infrastructure investments, and incentives for businesses.
With Malaysia's Involvement in Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and BRICS Malaysia has strategic location and strong economic fundamentals. This has made Malaysia an attractive partner for China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
The country too has actively participated in various BRI projects, including infrastructure development, trade facilitation, and investment cooperation.
Recently, Malaysia has joined as the alliance partner in BRICS group of emerging economies, which includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. This move reflects Malaysia's aspiration to strengthen its position in the global economy and diversify its trade and investment partnerships.
Today, Malaysia is a leading destination for logistics companies, we offer a wide range of advantages :-
Strategic Location: Situated at the crossroads of major shipping routes, Malaysia provides easy access to key markets in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
World-Class Infrastructure: The country boasts modern ports, airports, and highways, ensuring efficient and reliable transportation.
Skilled Workforce: Malaysia has a skilled workforce with expertise in logistics, supply chain management, and E-commerce. Furthermore, our second language is English and it is widely spoken.
Favorable Business Environment: The government's pro-business policies, coupled with a stable political climate, make Malaysia an attractive investment destination for domestic & foreign investors.
As e-commerce continues to grow and global supply chains become more complex, Malaysia's role as a logistics hub is set to expand.
The country's commitment to innovation, coupled with its strong foundation and active participation in global initiatives like BRI and BRICS, positions Malaysia as a key player in the global logistics landscape.

Yes, Malaysia is a key logistics country in potential
Kudos to PMX for bringing this up
I have been saying the same since eons, when Dato Radzak Malek Honorary FCILT invited me to speak to #cilt in 2018 for example
We know this since our schooldays
From the Greek's Golden Chersonese
To the Roman envoy who sailed and settled here to (according to the book by an Englishman) founded Langkasuka, which thrived as an entreport kingdom, linking Sungai Pattanj in the east to Sungai Muda in the west, spilling over the economic benefits all the way down to Jugra near Klang
To, of course as we know from the people who are now descendents comprising whom we are, China, India subcontinent, Middle East, Europe
And subsequent investors from Japan, US etc
We are - by our very nature - a logistics country
And beyond a transit point of exchange, a hub to the region
So kudos to all the logisticians here
PMX recognizes your importance to the nation
And from the tone of his speech, he has plans to build us up, amongst others, as a #logistics nation again

Malaysia-Korea team fighting 🇲🇾🤝🇰🇷
Nice catching up with KOTRA Malaysia Director, Dr Lee Sung Gi and Senior Specialist Mohd Fadzrul Fyairous Ismail at Han Modern Korean Grill, Kuala Lumpur on 20 May 2024. KOTRA Malaysia has been instrumental in expanding bilateral trade between Malaysia and Korea, which stood US$24.3 billion at in 2023. Korea is Malaysia's 8th largest trading partner and Malaysia is Korea's 12th (and 3rd in ASEAN). Both countries are parties to the ASEAN-Korea Free Trade Agreement and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). Through its business matching and market entry initiatives, KOTRA has contributed to making Korea one of the top sources of FDI in the manufacturing sector for Malaysia, while continuing to facilitate the entry of various Korean SMEs into the Malaysian market.

Fiji offers security of property rights to foreign investors unlike any other country in the South Pacific (99-year land tenancies being the norm) and also boasts the lowest cost of living & of doing business than any of its regional neighbors. Low taxes, light regulations, an openness to competition and robust anti-corruption framework creates the conditions that make Fiji an outlier in terms of growth and development relative to its peers. In fact, the 2023 Annual Misery Index compiled by Professor Steve Hankes of John Hopkins University places Fiji as the 13th LEAST miserable country on the entire planet of the 157 countries in the survey. Location or geography matters, yes, but to a certain extent only. Rather, history shows that it is the presence/absence of “conditions for prosperity” that makes certain locations or countries fare better than others in terms of speed of capital formation, economic growth and human progress.
