LeadCare II: Summertime Testing As we embrace the summer months, it's crucial to emphasize the significance of lead testing for children. The LeadCare II analyzer offers fast, accurate, portable, and CLIA Waived results, making it the optimal choice for ensuring the health of your patients and children. Summer sees a notable increase in lead testing for several reasons: · Routine Wellness Visits – Many families schedule pediatric check-ups during the summer months before heading back to school, making it the ideal time to conduct essential lead testing. · Increased Exposure/Renovations – Outdoor activities may expose children to lead in parks, yards, and older structures. Additionally, summer renovations can disturb lead-containing paint and dust in older homes and buildings. · Public Health Campaigns – State public health departments and community organizations across the country (many of which we partner with) do an excellent job of spreading awareness regarding lead poisoning and the importance of testing. Early detection is critical in mitigating the effects of lead exposure. Swiftly identifying and removing children from lead sources is essential for preventing long-term health complications. For more information about the LeadCare II, visit our Lead Poisoning Resource Center or feel free to contact me directly. Wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable summer! https://lnkd.in/g95Hx52R

Hi guys! This World Asthma Day, let's talk about something that hits close to home: conquering asthma and crushing your academic goals! Imagine acing that exam without feeling winded, or making a surprise PowerPoint presentation on behalf of your group without a wheeze interrupting your lines. That's the power of asthma education! This year's theme, "Asthma Education Empowers," is all about giving YOU the tools to manage your asthma and excel in everything you do. Here's the reality: asthma can be a challenge, especially during those intense study sessions or back-to-back lectures (12-2, 2-4, 4-6). Rings a bell, right?. But fear not, knowledge is your secret weapon! By understanding your triggers (dusty corners, pollen on the way to campus, exhaust from old tankers), mastering your inhaler technique (it's more than just a quick puff!), and knowing when to seek medical help, asthma can be reduced to a small impediment rather than a big one. Here's the challenge: Share this post and educate a fellow student about asthma today. Together, let's create lecture theatres filled with confident breathers and unstoppable learners! 💪🏿 #worldasthmaday #asthmaeducationempowers

February is all about hearts—and more than just on Valentines Day. This is American Heart Month. “During American Heart Month, we’re celebrating all the bold hearts who have made an impact in saving lives through CPR,” said Nancy Brown, American Heart Association chief executive officer. “At the American Heart Association, it’s our vision to advance health and hope for everyone, everywhere. Children as young as nine can learn CPR and since nearly 3 out of 4 cardiac arrests that do not happen in a hospital, occur in the home, it's critical that all families know how to perform CPR.” CPR – or cardiopulmonary resuscitation – is an emergency lifesaving procedure performed when the heart stops beating. During American Heart Month, the Association is offering four ways to learn CPR and join the Nation of Lifesavers, as an individual, family, organization or community at heart.org/nation. FYI: Hands-only CPR is quick and easy to learn and does not involve any mouth-to-mouth contact. Are you prepared to save a life—perhaps of someone you love? #Amercanheartmonth #cpr #Americanheartmonth2024 #firstaid #hearthealth I usually post about job search strategies, the legal industry, and the California legal job market. "Take advantage of your time and do things early, to avoid that unnecessary procrastination headache. Use your time wisely to perfect your study tools or prepare for the exam or project. I found that I am most productive in group study sessions prior to exams. This way people with different strengths can all come together and teach the material to one another. Maybe another student heard more of the lecture than you did or they understood a topic more than you. This in turn allows for a collaborative environment and encourages each student to learn each component and subject for the exams. Pharmacy school flies by! Make sure to take advantage of opportunities for self-care, after all, how can you attend to the copious number of things on your to-do list and care for others, if you yourself are not in the healthiest state of mind? You simply cannot. It is imperative that you can navigate the rigors of pharmacy school with resilience and grace, ensuring not only academic success but also personal well-being along the way. Step out of your comfort zone and explore a new hobby – your mind, body, and soul will thank you!" Sarah Adly, Class of 2024

A California study found that middle and high school students express widespread gratitude for universal school meals, reporting increased access to meals, improved food security, reduced stigma, and higher meal participation. They endorse the program’s continuation. Key findings: Many students appreciated USM and supported its continuation. Students agreed that USM provided under federal waivers aided families financially by providing students with a reliable source of healthy food, eliminating income barriers to eligibility and simplifying the payment system for school meals. Students felt that by including everyone, participation increased and negative stigma surrounding school lunch decreased. Concerns expressed were related to meal quality and quantity as well as food waste.
