On World Brain Day, let's take a moment to highlight the importance of brain health. Our brain controls every aspect of our lives, from our thoughts and emotions to our movements and decisions. Here are a few ways we can support brain health: Promote Awareness: Encourage discussions about brain health and its impact on our lives. Practice Healthy Habits: Engage in activities like regular exercise, balanced nutrition, and mental exercises. Provide Resources: Ensure access to information and support for brain health. Show Empathy: Understand that brain health issues can affect anyone and offer support and kindness. Together, we can foster a supportive environment where brain health is prioritized. Remember, taking care of your brain is essential for overall well-being. #WorldBrainDay #BrainHealth #MentalHealth

In the midst of getting an undeniable pull to develop product improvements, I was reminded by a kind colleague to not to lose sight of the bigger picture: #brainhealth. What are we developing these products for? An interesting review of brain health initiatives by Philip Gorelick, Atticus Hainsworth and Anders Wallin earlier this year (https://lnkd.in/eevtHUQW) reminded us of re-ignited initiatives that included #BrainCapitalGrandStrategy, which was summarized by a seminar with the Secretary General and Admiral McRaven, on 27 January 2021. The actual article has been published in #MolecularPsychiatry - A Brain Capital Grand Strategy: Towards Economic Re-imagination - an inter-disciplinary effort of medical doctors, neuroscientists and economists to which NAEC contributed. The paper argues that in our brain economy, investments in brain health and brain skills are critical for post-COVID economic renewal, re-imagination, and long-term economic resilience. https://lnkd.in/esj37NC6 https://lnkd.in/eKfKJdd2

Very excited to announce that our new opinion article on neurofeedback for stress-related disorders has just been published in Trends in Neurosciences: https://lnkd.in/e2Un5tuj - with Erno Hermans and David Linden We provide a contemporary perspective on neurofeedback as endogenous neuromodulation that (1) can target complex brain network dynamics, (2) is transferable to real-world scenarios outside a laboratory or treatment facility, (3) can be trained prospectively, and (4) is individually adaptable. We propose that this makes neurofeedback a prime candidate for a personalized preventive neuroscience-based intervention strategy that focuses on the ecological momentary neuromodulation of stress-related brain networks in response to actual stressors in real life.

Each year on July 22, #WorldBrainDay is devoted to a different topic in neurological health. This year, the theme is to bring attention to prevention. That’s why the World Federation of Neurology (WFN) has dedicated World Brain Day 2024 to #BrainHealth and Prevention. Some Key Messages---> 🧠 Neurological disorders are preventable through early detection and effective management. 📖 Global education on prevention for brain health is imperative. 🌏 Socioeconomic status or geographic location should not be barriers to prevention. 🏥 Healthcare professionals, researchers, and policymakers play pivotal roles in addressing the global neurological needs. 🧠 Recognizing brain health as a fundamental human right is at the core of our mission. To celebrate, you can participate in activities that promote brain health, such as engaging in #physicalexercise, maintaining a healthy diet, and ensuring adequate sleep 😴
