🚨 Urgent Call to Action! 🚨 The integrity of our environment is at stake in Illinois, and we need your voice now more than ever! 🌍💧 A controversial bill is set to be run today at 4pm by the Illinois Environmental Council (IEC), threatening the guardianship of our precious aquifers and the principles of fair representation. This isn't just a local issue; it affects us all, and your support can make a monumental difference. Whether you're in Illinois or halfway across the globe, you have the power to impact this critical decision. The proposed legislation could sidestep vital environmental protections without proper consideration from those who know best—our dedicated drillers and environmental protectors. 🌿🛠️ Brock Yordy made it clear by stating, "As drillers, our top priority is to never compromise on protecting the environment. Drilling rules and regulations set by industry professionals specifically written to protect aquifers should always be in the spotlight. To attempt a rule change without full consideration from all parties of the impact to groundwater quality is unacceptable." Now is the time to act. News Update: Texas agency to vote Wednesday on expansion of Valero refinery in Corpus Christi Tomorrow, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality is set to decide the fate of a planned refinery expansion in Corpus Christi, Texas. The three-member Governor-appointed group will vote on a permit that, if approved, would allow Valero to expand its oil refining capabilities at their Corpus Christi West plant. Valero faces an uphill battle after local opponents including Citizens for Environmental Justice secured a legal win from a Texas State administrative law judge last year. The judge is recommending that the permit be denied, because Valero’s planned expansion project fails to meet federal Clean Air Act rules to limit emissions of smog-forming nitrogen oxides, which damage people’s respiratory systems and are linked to long-term lung conditions. “We expect the Commission to accept the fact findings and legal conclusions of the judge who heard all the evidence and determined that this permit should be denied,” said Environmental Integrity Project attorney Ilan Levin.
