It's International Repair Day! For the last few months I've been volunteering at my local repair café, fixing things people bring in, from radios to leaf blowers. It's such a great initiative, and not just to prevent waste. The café is a community space, where people can come for tea and cake and to chat with the repairers as their item is being fixed. It also really highlights the need to consider disassembly and repair in the initial design process — it can be the most straightforward fix, but you'll spend half an hour just taking it apart! To find a local repair event in your area, check out repaircafe.org or openrepair.org #internationalrepairday #volunteering #industrialdesign

I this video we explore how volunteering for your local government can have a positive impact on the environment and the community as a whole. By working on projects such as planting trees, creating community gardens, and cleaning up parks, volunteers can help improve the local environment and make a difference in their community. In addition to the environmental benefits, volunteering with local government can also provide personal benefits. It is a great way to meet new people, learn new skills, and make a positive impact on the world around you. What's your story? #NetZeroKuringgai

Would you like to double your volunteer engagement and impact? 🚀🤔 This is exactly what StreetDoctors was able to achieve since working with the Volunteero platform. When we first spoke to StreetDoctors, they were using a collection of spreadsheets and emails to manage volunteers. But this was simply inhibiting their ability to grow the impact delivered by volunteers and put a large strain on the team. 🤯 Since onboarding Volunteero, volunteers now have one place to go in order. to manage their day-to-day volunteering activities. The direct result of this more engaging and simple method of volunteer management was that volunteers did more. This led to more impact and after all, this is what we are all looking to achieve through our volunteering programs isn't it? 👍🏻 Martin and the team have been a joy to work with and we look forward to everything we can achieve together in the future. “ I think for us one of the key things that makes Volunteero a perfect fit for StreetDoctors is your integrity, and that open relationship we have with you, it’s really refreshing to have a software company which wants to work with you and focuses on finding the right solutions for your business. And we know that Innovation of the platform happens and will continue to happen which really excites us” - Martin Tilbury MBE #volunteermanagement #volunteerrecruitment #charitydigital #volunteering

At HelloPrint, we believe in giving back to our community. Our commitment to volunteering goes beyond just words; we aim (and allow!) for each employee to dedicate 24 hours a year to community service. In 2023 we've initiated these efforts, starting with monthly cooking sessions at the Ronald McDonald Huis Sophia Rotterdam. This year we’re ramping up and introduced new initiatives like happiness walks with elderly people, partnering with JINC, as well as working with the local Voedselbank Rotterdam. While many companies offer volunteer time off, only a few employees make use of this opportunity. Why? Resources are not provided by the company. At HelloPrint, we proactively schedule and organize activities to ensure our team members can make a meaningful difference. Volunteering is not only beneficial for our local community but it also opens our eyes to the realities around us. For example, we've come to understand the loneliness that many elderly people face or the financial struggles that prevent some from accessing food. These experiences teach us (or.. at least me!) gratitude. And it's a powerful reminder to appreciate what we have and to consider how we can make a positive impact. I've created a video to share a few moments from yesterday’s volunteering at the Voedselbank, in a way to inspire you to give back too. PS. This is not me acting like I hold a microphone 🎤 PPS. I am a professional in sustainability, not in video editing ;-) 📽 Yesterday's team existed of Sara, Jesse, Maxim, Letizia - thanks to Lizzy for organising everything. #sustainability #volunteering #localcommunity #givingback #helloprint

What is the real value of employee volunteering? 🙋♀️ It's been more than a year since we implemented our volunteering scheme and we’ve seen first-hand how volunteering can give our people a renewed sense of purpose, deepen connections and create a sense of community. From conducting microplastics surveys to helping out on organic farms, we've collected some of the inspiring stories of how our people have given back to the community through our paid volunteering programme: https://lnkd.in/emU-RcCa #volunteering #employeevolunteering #community #greencause

by F. Willis Johnson Empathy-based philanthropy focuses on understanding and connecting with the needs, emotions, and experiences of those supported. It prioritizes benevolence, active listening, and engaging with individuals or communities in need to create lasting change. The strategic use of philanthropy as activism addresses systemic issues by fostering collaboration and empowering disadvantaged individuals. Philanthropy, if used effectively, can nurture civic engagement and communal responsibility, promoting inclusive democratic societies. Embracing empathy-driven philanthropy can lead to social cohesion, particularly benefiting vulnerable populations and BIPOC+ communities. By engaging with our local communities and exemplifying democratic values through compassion, generosity, and understanding, we can become agents of change toward collective uplift.
