Thanks all for your greeting on my 15th anniversary at the SCG Chartered Accountant. Looking back, I was naïve about what it takes to build an accounting firm that transcends you. But here we are now. We have a clear idea of the firm we want to build; the standards we aim for, and the impact we want to have. What does it take to build the sort of firm that we hope SCG will become? I would describe what it takes as vision, purpose, grit, grunt, and great colleagues. Vision–you must envision the firm you want to create and what you need. If you persist and are open to learning from others, you will discover other missing elements as you go. Purpose–you must ask and answer the why question. Why are you embarking on the journey? Grit–you must have the staying power. You must pick yourself up when adversity knocks you down. In Ghana, many forces will knock you out early in the game. Adapt, don’t compromise, and don’t take shortcuts. Compromising and taking shortcuts is a path to mediocrity. Grunt–you must put in the work. Lead by example, and put in your share of the hard work. Great colleagues–colleagues who share your vision and take responsibility for aspects of the firm.

SUMMER RECAP PT. 5 After I participated in the virtual work experience with the Institute of Chartered Accountants, it was suggested that I attended a seminar hosted by the ICAEW (Institute of Chartered institute in England and Wales), with the title "What do Chartered Accountants do?". During this seminar, all the different careers you could have after becoming a Chartered accountant were discussed. This part of the talk was informative and gave me more insight into the potential careers in finance. The second part of the session discussed how to get an ACA qualification and become ICAEW member. This part of session briefed all the participants on the journey to become a Chartered accountant.

POST-ICAN EXAMS POST Firstly, I salute my doggedness, willingness, commitment and that impulse of THOUGHT that birthed forth my desire to become a Chartered Accountant. Like rightly told and envisaged, that appellation 'ACA' carries a lot of weights–unquantifiable. Secondly, I congratulate my fellow colleagues, regardless of your centers, for all the efforts you had put-in, in your quest to become a Chartered Accountants, from your heart to God's ears, he has heard you and you will be more convinced when results are out! The last few weeks were hell of earth. To some points, I pitied myself for signing this contract with ICAN. Sleepless nights? 8-9 hours of straight readings? Mosquitoes bites at night? Waist pains due to constant readings? I know you had the same experiences or even worse than mine. I come with a good news: You, me shall be Qualified! As some prepare for INDUCTION, others too, without hesitation, prepare for next level. It all shows that the battle is not yet won. Results? Be optimistic. You'd put in your best. God saw it. Your script is at the top of his hands. He will prove himself! The experience was great.👏 Next level.🙌 ACA in view.🎖️ #Finance #Taxtalks #Accountant
