💡 Two ESRI health researchers, Prof Anne Nolan and Dr Sheelah Connolly, are part of a team led by Prof Sara Burke (Trinity College Dublin), which was awarded Health Research Board (HRB) funding today through the new Evidence for Policy Programme. 🏥 Working in collaboration with the Centre for Health Policy and Management, School of Medicine at TCD, the project will review how the Irish health system is doing, provide international comparisons and inform the future direction of Irish health system reform. 📊 The Evidence for Policy Programme aims to support research projects that generate evidence to strengthen policy development or evaluate policy implementation Read more about the project here: https://lnkd.in/gJF3p4b2

"Discovery of the Greatest Three Therapeutic Interventions" This is the title of one of my four speeches in the coming conference titled: "Medical and Health Humanities: Global Perspectives 2025" Feeling quite tiny, yet inspired by the materials I read to prepare! For that I stated the goal of the talk as such: "In memorizing the honored great heroes of science" A very ordinary individuals made great changes for the benifits of mankind that they couldn't imagin. Just because they love what they do. This supports my theory: "Nothing is called talent, it just a contineous effort towards what we love" Allah makes the circumstances for that continuety. The School of Global Health recently interviewed Associate Professor Emmanuel Raju to learn about his current project: "Disaster Risk Creation in Urban Resettlement Processes". 🏙️ Built around a synergistic partnership between the University of Copenhagen, Roskilde University in Denmark and the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in India, the project will investigate how resettlement of urban slums might create new disaster risks. 💥 New publication: "Open and Opaque? The Performativity of Open Priorities in a Norwegian Hospital" 💥 The new study of BCEPS postdoctoral researcher Andrea Melberg examines the implementation of the policy of “open priorities”, drawing on extensive ethnographic fieldwork in a Norwegian hospital. 🏥 🇳🇴 It illustrates how the ideal of open priorities is translated into everyday practice, shaping decisions about why, to whom and which priorities should be open. The study reveals that while openness was a core policy within the hospital, it was also perceived to lead to conflict, hinder effective governance and undermine public trust. 💡   The paper documents how the concept of open priorities is put into practice, revealing its implications for institutional decision-making and governance.
