Bulgaria and WHO sign new framework for collaboration On 1 June, during the Seventy-seventh World Health Assembly, delegates from the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria and from WHO/Europe met to commemorate the signing of the biennial collaborative agreement between WHO and Bulgaria for 2024-2025. The BCA provides a mutually agreed framework for collaboration between Bulgaria and WHO at the country level, guided by WHO's mandate to work towards health for all. The agreed activities align with the national health policies of Bulgaria as stated in the country's Health Strategy 2030, with the WHO General Programme of Work and the WHO European Programme of Work 2020-2025 - "United Action for Better Health in Europe". https://lnkd.in/ev8rt9WD #PublicHealth #Europe #StayInformed #StayEmpowered

AEBR Secretary General Martin Guillermo Ramirez, b-solutions Experts Caitriona Mullan and Maria Garayo Maiztegui are at the famous AECT-HC/GECT_HC Cerdanya Hospital Hôpital De Cerdagne today for a crucial EU b-solutions event focusing on #EU cross border labour markets- the building blocks of #recovery, #resilience and #cohesion. Cerdanya was the first completely cross border hospital 🏥 to be established in the #EU and has been a pioneer of significant models of cooperation and regional cross border health ecosystems which are more relevant now than ever as Europe faces generational challenges. 

Taiwan Can Help! 🇹🇼 To establish a comprehensive healthcare system, the World Health Organization (WHO) should include all countries, including Taiwan. This would ensure equitable access to healthcare resources and services for all populations, regardless of geopolitical considerations. By extending coverage to Taiwan, WHO would contribute to the global effort to improve health outcomes and address public health challenges on a truly global scale.

In recent years, WHO/Europe has deepened and extended its collaboration with Member States, further boosted by the Country Strategy endorsed 2 years ago. Four countries showcased examples of this collaboration and the positive #healthimpact it has made at a side event organized yesterday in the run-up to WHO/Europe’s annual governance meeting, RC74. Romania is advancing in key health areas as part of its National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), guided by the 7-year Country Cooperation Strategy signed with WHO in 2024. Kyrgyzstan is actively engaged in the subregional strategy—the Roadmap for Health and Wellbeing in Central Asia—and hosted the Central Asia International Health Investment Forum, maintaining focus and momentum on health and economic priorities. Malta is launching an NCD Prevention Policy Framework using the insights gained from a WHO Country Support Team. Germany is advancing public health reforms and establishing a prevention institute with support from a WHO Country Counterpart. 📢 #WHOBarcelona Office presented its work to the Catalan Secretary for Health Care and Participation 📢 The WHO Barcelona Office for Health Systems Financing received a delegation from the Catalan Department of Health led by Gloria Gálvez Hernando, Secretary for Health Care and Participation on 12 November. Accompanied by Josep Pujante, Director of International Relations and Health Cooperation and his colleagues, she learned about the Office’s initiatives and discussed ways to strengthen collaboration. Some of the initiatives presented were: ☂️ The WHO Barcelona courses on health financing, which were delivered in Kazakhstan, Moldova, Tajikistan and Ukraine in addition to the annual regional course in Barcelona ☂️ Insights into progress towards universal health coverage (UHC) in Europe and Central Asia, highlighting evidence from the regional report on affordable access to health care ☂️ Highlights of technical support on health financing for countries, including Ukraine’s health reforms, #UHCPartnership countries focusing on primary health care ☂️ An introduction to #UHCwatch, a digital platform tracking progress on affordable access to health care in Europe and Central Asia ☂️ The Office’s contributions to training programmes, technical meetings, and seminars hosted in Barcelona 🤝 Established in 1999, the WHO Barcelona Office is generously supported by the Government of the Autonomous Community of Catalonia, Spain. 🌐 Visit UHC watch to learn more about the WHO Barcelona’s initiatives and publications: bit.ly/uhcwatch

In 2021, we conducted a Stages of Continuous Improvement (SOCI) assessment in #Serbia, which served to establish a baseline status, strengthen dialogue among different key stakeholders in the field of digitalization of health care, and identify areas that were not covered by the initially drafted program for digitalization.
