The gap in LGBTQ+ identification among older adults. He shares, "You still see, for example, there are gaps in sort of population level. People who identify as LGBTQ...the older adults are less likely to identify as such publicly. And a lot of that's due to history. I mean, I don't think that magically people are changing. I think it's that younger generations are potentially more comfortable in sharing those things and responding to a survey question that asks about your sexual orientation, your gender identity, and marking that in a way that someone else will see it. And we see this playing out in sort of medical settings, this history of discrimination, and distrust...trying to understand how to navigate systems and how open to be and how that may or may not impact the care that your partner receives." The LGBTQ+ movement has sparked a lot of conversation, especially regarding the issue of medicating kids at a young age. Corey makes his stance clear—he’s 100% against it. Nearly half of LGBTQ+ young adults face the heart-wrenching reality of being estranged from at least one family member. In fact, LGBTQ+ adults are twice as likely as their non-LGBTQ+ peers to report strained or distant relationships with immediate family. For many, the pressure to uphold a "family myth" or identity leads to painful rejections. Families may cast out those who don’t fit their narrative of what’s “acceptable,” leaving LGBTQ+ individuals to navigate their identity without the foundational support of loved ones. This estrangement is often rooted in misunderstanding, fear, and societal pressure. The toll it takes is profound, leaving deep emotional scars. Yet, in the face of rejection, many find strength in chosen family—those who offer love, acceptance, and support unconditionally. 💬 If you’ve experienced this type of estrangement, how have you found your way to healing? What advice would you give others facing a similar situation? #lgbt #lgbtq #siblingestrangement #familyestrangement #familyhealing #siblingrivalry #siblingrelationship #familydynamics #mentalhealth #emotionalhealing #emotionalhealth #selfacceptance #selfgrowth #selfcare

I feel bothered... Why do we ignore the word Intersectional? Is it because it's easier to focus on one aspect of a person, rather than acknowledging the multiple layers that make up their identity? As we strive towards creating a more diverse and inclusive workplace, we must recognise the importance of intersectionality. For instance, being Neurodiverse or LGBTQ+ is not just about one aspect of a person's identity. It's about noticing the multiple layers of those around us and understanding the other barriers that people might face and how your actions Intersect to truly create an equal and equitable D&I strategy. I will say I don't think it's good enough for us to just focus on one aspect of that community and I will continue to shout in webinars and events at the importance of understanding that regardless of whatever you do if it does not serve all marginalised groups then it's not truly equal. #Intersectionality #DiversityandInclusion #Neurodiversity #LGBTQ+ #belonging #antiracism

Addressing Underrepresentation: Ensuring Inclusivity in Data Collection for Non-Binary and LGBTQ+ Communities In recent years, we've noticed a problem: not enough non-binary and LGBTQ+ people are represented in our surveys and data. This is a big issue because it means we're missing out on important information that could help make better policies and services for everyone. So, what can we do? We need to make sure our surveys are inclusive. That means asking questions that reflect all kinds of gender identities and sexual orientations. We also need to reach out to LGBTQ+ communities better. This might mean teaming up with LGBTQ+ organizations or using social media to connect. Privacy is also important. We need to make sure people feel safe sharing their information, especially in places where discrimination is still a problem. Training is key too. We need to teach researchers and data collectors about LGBTQ+ issues so they can create a welcoming environment for everyone. By working together and being inclusive, we can make sure everyone's voices are heard. Let's create a data world that truly represents everyone. #InclusiveData #LGBTQ+ #RepresentationMatters 🌈✨ #MarketResearch #DataAnalysis #ConsumerInsights #MarketTrends #BusinessStrategy #CustomerFeedback #MarketAnalysis #IndustryResearch #MarketTrends #MarketInsights #DataDrivenDecisionMaking #MarketSurvey #ConsumerBehavior #CompetitiveAnalysis

Have you ever had a moment where someone you've known for years, maybe even watched them grow up, confided in you about their LGBTQ+ identity? It's a powerful revelation that can stir a range of emotions—from surprise to curiosity to acceptance. Yet, it's also a pivotal moment where our response can make a profound difference in their journey. When faced with such news, it's natural to question our own reactions and ponder what it means for our relationship with that person. Do we respond with open arms and unconditional support? Or do we let our preconceived notions and biases dictate our response? It's a moment that challenges us to confront our own beliefs and values. Let's use these moments as opportunities for growth and understanding. Instead of focusing on differences, let's celebrate the courage it takes for someone to share their authentic self with us. By embracing diversity and fostering empathy, we not only strengthen our bonds with others but also contribute to a more inclusive and accepting society. #LGBTQ+Identity #EmpathyInAction #InclusiveCommunity
