In 1967, 57 years ago, President Lyndon B. Johnson established the National Advisory Commission on Civil Disorders that concluded systemic racism was responsible for the pervasive discrimination in employment, education, health care, and housing, resulting in continued exclusion of Black communities from the benefits of economic progress. In 2021, the US Congress declared systemic racism a public health crisis. And yet and still, our employment, education, health care, criminal justice, and economic systems, practices, processes and workflows continue to produce and normalize worse outcomes for minority populations. Right problem definition, but wrong-headed thinking. How do we know? Because the problem persists which means the underlying systems producing the undesired outcomes have largely gone unchanged. Systemic thinking is needed to solve these systemic problems. Systemic thinking will teach you how to unpack and analyze the systems producing the undesired outcomes, determine the root causes of these outcomes, and redesign the systems to produce better results. When we learn better, we can do better. And we can stop doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. Please join us and let's learn together on Tuesday, July 23rd at 1:00PM!
