Meet Josh Vriends a registered nurse, #UAlbertaNursing graduate student, and one of the April 24 City Wide Nursing Rounds presenters. Josh, why did you choose to become a nurse? I chose to become a nurse because it combined my interests in science and understanding the human experience. Building relationships with and advocating for diverse patients and integrating this with life-long evidence-based learning makes for a very rewarding career. What was/is your nursing specialty? My nursing background is in emergency room and mental health and addictions, but I will be starting my career as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) in primary care this spring. Why is your research important for nurses in practice and, ultimately, for patients? My research is important for nurses and, ultimately, patients because it provides policy and practice considerations for accessible and useable telehealth for transgender and gender-diverse children and youth. Register for your rounds to hear more about Josh’s work here: https://bit.ly/3JiRkAL #Alberta_Nurses #CanadaNurses

Bridging gaps in such profound ways!
UM St. Joseph was featured in this The Baltimore Sun article about our innovative partnership with Baltimore County and Community College of Baltimore County designed to provide workforce training to economically disadvantaged residents while helping to address a national nursing shortage. Our Public Health Pathways Program is building and sustaining a skilled and dedicated team of nurses. https://lnkd.in/eH8EQkup
A hospital needed nurses. Baltimore County wanted more good jobs. This program helps both.

Things are different when applying for remote and non-bedside nursing jobs (just ask any nurse who’s in it right now) and nothing is wrong with you or your experience if you’re having a hard time getting responses to your applications. Applying to these roles is closer to what the rest of corporate America is experiencing at this moment - lots of people looking with low inventory. 👀 Nurses who are in it or have landed a remote nursing job, what advice would you give those feeling discouraged in their search?
