Magnetic grippers for cylindrical cells 🔋 The gripping of cylindrical cells during the production of electric vehicles represents a particular challenge. The cylindrical cells must be consolidated as closely as possible, to enable optimal use of the limited space in the vehicle. This is only possible when the gripper is located in the shadow of the battery. With a focus on modular thinking, we enabled our battery cell gripper to be optimally adapted to such respective process. This process-relevant design was implemented and combined with.. ✅ a holding force of 50 N, which ensures that the cylindrical cells are held securely, even at the highest accelerations and during an emergency stop. ✅a low residual holding force under 1 N, for technical cleanliness and a reliable depositing when the magnets are deactivated. ✅ combined with piston position sensing as well as battery presence sensing. ✅ axis compensators and centering plates to compensate cell misalignments. With a focus on modular thinking, we optimized our battery cell gripper to adapt to such a rigorous process. Did you know that gears with integrated magnets can optimize thermal management in vehicles? 🧲⚙️ Thermal management is becoming an increasingly significant factor in modern vehicles, especially with the shift toward electric drives. It goes beyond climate control - encompassing the temperature regulation of motors, batteries, and other components. With thermal management becoming more decentralized, involving locally installed components, gearing components play a critical role. These components are now more compact to save space, yet they must meet high-quality standards. As weight reduction and noise minimization gain importance, many gearing parts are now made from plastic using injection molding processes. Additionally, these assemblies often incorporate magnetic components, such as rotors for small drives or sensor magnets. Integrating magnets and gearing into a single component optimizes space, boosts functionality, and significantly reduces manufacturing costs. Recently, many industries have started favouring permanent magnet motor.   Traditional induction motors have taken a back seat because of that. Permanent magnet motors use magnets made from materials like neodymium, which create a strong magnetic field. This contrasts with traditional induction motors, which generate their magnetic field through electric currents. There are few benefits that permanent magnet motors offer over traditional induction motors, and that is why industries are now adopting them.
