👋 Say hello to Karen, one of our dedicated care assistants working in Wigan Borough. Karen entered the care sector 20 years ago and has never looked back. 💬 “As a Carer my role consists of helping people live as independently as they can,” she said. “From helping them to wash, dress and take medication to making meals and just having a good old chat.” Karen says she gets job satisfaction from knowing she is “making a difference”. Want to discover how you can make a difference? We offer flexible opportunities at the council and with our trusted care partners. No matter your background, bring your compassion and we'll provide the training you need. Visit 👉 wigan.gov.uk/caretojoin #CareToJoinUs #SnapshotIntoCare #MakingADifference

It is with enthusiasm and optimism that I share the news below, as the Lackawanna County Commissioners seek qualified county residents to apply for service on the county’s boards, authorities, and commissions. In my nearly eight years of service working for the Lackawanna County Commissioners office, I observed firsthand the importance that appointing residents of high integrity, intelligence, and dedication to such entities can make for good governance. Every one of these boards, authorities, and commissions plays an important role in improving quality of life in Lackawanna County. Positive service by capable appointees can lead to sustained and increased quality of services, savings due to efficiency, and increased public trust in local government. I encourage any county resident looking to make a positive difference in our community to learn more about such opportunities via the story below. Sone appointments require a specific occupational skill set, but there are vacancies in need of appointments across a range of service areas. (If you are not a Lackawanna County resident, I encourage you to check out similar opportunities in your county of residence.)

This is Jacqui; she has been at the heart of CSMC’s Support Line for 14 years and is now Support Services Coordinator. Jacqui and her team provide single mothers with the specialist support and information that that CSMC is known for. Now Jacqui is speaking out and asking for your help. Our Support Line Workers say they have never had as much unmet demand as now, and the need has never been more acute. The need for support and information has always been high, but demand has skyrocketed due to the cost-of-living crisis. Single mothers who call our Support Line need our help now, but the sheer volume of calls means that many are having to leave messages and wait for a callback. We urgently need to employ an additional part-time Support Worker to make sure single mother families in dire circumstances get the help they need: https://lnkd.in/gXeXGFtM #singlemothers #singlemothersaustralia #singlemothersupport #singlemums #CSMC #councilofsinglemothersandtheirchildren

Fatima’s UK Campaign is partnering with young care leavers to create job opportunities. With over 110,000 children in care in the UK, many face instability and limited chances for a brighter future. Care leavers are 3x less likely to be in education, employment, or training by 19 and more likely to face homelessness. It’s our moral responsibility to help them build solid foundations and meaningful careers. #HelpMe #ChildrenAreOurFuture Fatimascampaign.com

In times of crisis, the strength of our emergency management systems is tested. While responding to the immediate needs of the affected population is paramount, ensuring that the needs of all community members are met is equally crucial. Among the various facets of emergency response, Emergency Support Function (ESF) #6 focuses on mass care, emergency assistance, housing, and human services. Inclusive planning within ESF #6 is important, emphasizing the necessity of addressing the unique needs of individuals with disabilities and special needs.
